KMPH (AM)
KMPH (840 AM) is a radio station licensed to and serving the Modesto, California area. The station is owned by Relevant Radio, Inc. History KMPH signed on in July 2006 with an Adult Standards/MOR format, with some talk programming. It effectively replaced sister station KTRB, which had operated from Modesto since 1933, but had just signed off the previous month in preparation of a move to the San Francisco Bay Area. The station switched to an all-talk format on March 10, 2008. Pappas Telecasting shut KMPH down on August 31, 2010, due to lack of revenue. KMPH later returned to air with brokered programming provided by Paulino Bernal Evangelism of Texas, then temporarily switched to a Talk format in May 2013 fed via KOMY (1340 AM) in La Selva Beach, California. Pappas Telecasting Companies was a diversely organized broadcasting company headquartered in Visalia, California, United States. Founded in 1971, it was one of the largest privately held broadcasting companies in the country, with its stations reaching over 15% of all U.S. households and over 32% of Hispanic households. Apart from owning and/or operating many television stations, the company formerly had two radio stations in its possession, KTRB AM 860 and KMPH-AM 840—changed from KPMP in June 2006 to reflect its nearby sister/flagship television station, Fox affiliate KMPH-TV, both in Fresno, California. La Selva Beach (''La Selva'', Spanish for "The Forest") is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, California. La Selva Beach sits at an elevation of . The 2020 United States census reported La Selva Beach's population was 2,531. La Selva Beach is one of the several small communities located in and around Aptos.
