OTA Broadcasting, LLC was a broadcasting company founded in 2011 by Michael Dell. The company was based in Fairfax, Virginia. History OTA Broadcasting was founded in 2011 by Michael Dell's MSD Capital. It had been rumored that Dell formed OTA Broadcasting to buy stations that could be sold in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) spectrum auction. The company's first acquisition was announced in June 2011 when it was announced that it was acquiring KTLN-TV in San Rafael, California. The purchase closed that October. OTA reached an agreement to purchase WTBL-CD in Lenoir, NC, located in the Charlotte DMA, for $500,000. ''The Desert Sun'' is a local daily newspaper serving Palm Springs and the surrounding Coachella Valley in Southern California. History First issued on August 5, 1927, as a weekly six-page newspaper, ''The Desert Sun'' grew with the desert communities it serves. It covers local, state, national and world news, and has developed a variety of sections over time. The newspaper began to publish six days a week in 1955 and had its first Sunday edition on September 8, 1991. Its circulation to date is 50,000 and their distribution range is in regional communities from Beaumont to Twentynine Palms to the Salton Sea. On March 1, 2024, the paper's newsroom union went on strike to protest what it called bad faith bargaining from Gannet. The work stoppage was the first indefinite strike in the paper's history. John Conte (actor)
John Conte (September 15, 1915 – September 4, 2006) was an American stage, film and TV actor, and television station owner. Early years Conte was born in Palmer, Massachusetts. His mother was Italian, and his father was French-Italian. The family moved to Los Angeles, California, when John was 5. While a student at Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, Conte focused on classes in drama and for three years was the school's top entrant in Shakespearian competition. After graduating, he joined the Pasadena Playhouse and "took every role offered to him juvenile, leading man, character." He later got jobs as a radio actor and singer. Radio Conte entered broadcasting with a job at KFAC in Los Angeles. Two years later, he had become a network announcer.
