KMED (106.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to Eagle Point, Oregon, United States, and serving the Medford- Ashland area. The station is owned by Bicoastal Media. History In the later 1990s, the station was branded as "Eagle 106.3" with a rock format. By the early 2000s, the format had evolved to active rock as "106-3 KZZE". On August 3, 2015, at 12:00 pm, KZZE flipped to an adult album alternative format known as "106.3 The Valley" and changed its call letters to KYVL. Eagle Point, Oregon
Eagle Point is a city in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. The population was 8,469 at the 2010 census, up from 4,798 at the 2000 census. As of 2018, the estimated population was 9,408. History In the mid-19th century, a rocky cliff near the location of what later became Eagle Point was a favored nesting place for eagles. An area resident, John Mathews, is said to have suggested "Eagle Point" as the name for a proposed post office in the community. The post office was established in 1872; Andrew McNeil was the first postmaster. A water-powered gristmill, Butte Creek Mill, has operated in Eagle Point for more than 125 years. Built in 1872 along Little Butte Creek, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The mill burned to the ground Christmas Day 2015. KYVL (1440 AM) is a radio station licensed to Medford, Oregon, United States, and serving the Medford-Ashland area. The station is owned by Bicoastal Media. It was established in 1926 as the original home of KMED, whose programming moved to 106.3 FM in 2023. History According to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) records, KMED's first license was granted on December 29, 1926. However, the station's founder, William J. Virgin, had been involved in radio dating back to at least the fall of 1921, when he and three others constructed a five-watt transmitter in Elmer Morrison's garage in Ashland. It is not clear if this transmitter was licensed at this time, or if the endeavor ever expanded beyond experimental transmissions. Donald Fagen
Donald Jay Fagen (born January 10, 1948) is an American musician best known as the co-founder, lead singer, co-songwriter, and keyboardist of the band Steely Dan, formed in the early 1970s with musical partner Walter Becker. In addition to his work with Steely Dan, Fagen has released four solo albums. He began his solo career in 1982 with the album ''The Nightfly'', which was nominated for seven Grammy Awards. In 2001, Fagen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Steely Dan. Following Becker's death in 2017, Fagen has continued to tour as the only original member of Steely Dan. "New Frontier" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Donald Fagen for his debut studio album, ''The Nightfly'' (1982). The song was released as the second single from the album in January 1983 through Warner Bros. Records. The song received acclaim from music critics. "New Frontier" was less successful on the charts than its predecessor "I.G.Y. (What a Beautiful World)", however, reaching number 70 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the US. FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM).
