KLRN
KLRN, virtual and VHF digital channel 9, is a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) member television station licensed to San Antonio, Texas. It is owned by the Alamo Public Telecommunications Council, with studios on Broadway Street in downtown San Antonio and a transmitter on Foster Road (near Calaveras Lake) in the southeast part of the city. KLRN is the default PBS member station for the Laredo and Victoria markets (it shares Victoria with KUHT in Houston), which do not have their own. It is on cable and satellite television in all three markets. Established in 1962 as an educational television station designed to serve San Antonio and Austin, the opening of a new transmitter in Austin led to the establishment of local governance and ultimately a separation of operations during the 1980s, leaving KLRN open to focus on serving San Antonio viewers. PBS Kids is the brand for most of the children's programming aired by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the United States. KTBC (channel 7) is a television station in Austin, Texas, United States, airing programming from the Fox network. It is owned and operated by the network's Fox Television Stations division, and maintains studios on East 10th Street near the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin; its transmitter is based at the West Austin Antenna Farm on Mount Larson. WORLD Channel, also branded as WORLD, is an American digital multicast public television network owned and operated by the WGBH Educational Foundation. It is distributed by American Public Television and the National Educational Telecommunications Association and features programming covering topics such as science, nature, news, and public affairs. Programming is supplied by the entities, as well as other partners such as WNET and WGBH. It is primarily carried on the digital subchannels of PBS member stations. Laredo ( ; ) is a city in and the county seat of Webb County, Texas, United States, on the north bank of the Rio Grande in South Texas, across from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. KUHT
KUHT (channel 8) is a PBS member television station in Houston, Texas, United States. Owned by the University of Houston System, it is sister to NPR member station KUHF (88.7 FM). The two stations share studios and offices in the Melcher Center for Public Broadcasting on the campus of the University of Houston. KUHT's transmitter is located near Missouri City, in unincorporated northeastern Fort Bend County. In addition, the station leased some of its studio operations to Tegna-owned CBS affiliate KHOU (channel 11) from August 2017 to February 2019 when the latter's original studios were inundated by Hurricane Harvey. Very High Frequency
Very high frequency (VHF) is the ITU designation for the range of radio frequency electromagnetic waves ( radio waves) from 30 to 300 megahertz (MHz), with corresponding wavelengths of ten meters to one meter.
