Košarkarski klub ZM Lumar Maribor was a professional basketball team based in Maribor, Slovenia. The club competed in the Slovenian Basketball League during the 1990s and early 2000s and played in European basketball competitions such as Saporta Cup and FIBA Korać Cup. History The club was founded as ''KK Miklavž'' in the early 1990s. Miklavž, competing under the sponsorship name ''TAM Bus'', debuted in international competitions in the 1993–94 FIBA Korać Cup, where they eliminated German side TTL Bamberg in the first round. In 1994, the club was renamed as ''Bavaria Wolltex'' or simply ''BW Maribor'' due to sponsorship reasons. After that, the team played in the 1995–96 and 1997–98 editions of the FIBA Korać Cup. Maribor
Maribor ( , , , ; also known by other #Name, historical names) is the second-largest city in Slovenia and the largest city of the traditional region of Styria (Slovenia), Lower Styria. The Premier A Slovenian Basketball League ( sl, 1. slovenska košarkarska liga), abbreviated as 1. SKL and known as the Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, is the top-level professional men's basketball league in Slovenia. The FIBA Saporta Cup was the name of the second-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition, where the domestic National Cup winners, from all over Europe, played against each other. The competition was organized by FIBA Europe. It was named after the late Raimundo Saporta, a former Real Madrid director. The FIBA Korać Cup was an annual basketball club competition held by FIBA between the 1971–72 and 2001–02 seasons. It was the third-tier level club competition in European basketball, after the FIBA European Champions' Cup (later renamed the EuroLeague) and the FIBA Cup Winners' Cup (later renamed the FIBA Saporta Cup). The 1996–97 FIBA EuroCup was the thirty-first edition of FIBA's 2nd-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition. it occurred between September 17, 1996, and April 15, 1997. Akademski košarkarski klub Branik Maribor ( en, Academic Basketball Club Branik Maribor), commonly referred to as AKK Branik Maribor or simply Branik, is a basketball team based in Maribor, Slovenia. As of the 2022–23 season, Branik competes in the Slovenian Third League, the third-tier league of Slovenian basketball. The club was originally formed in 1948 as a basketball section of SŠD Polet. Branik folded in 2005 because of financial difficulties. A new club called ŠD Primorac was founded in 2001 and joined the Branik Sports Association in 2008.
