KKTX (AM)
KKTX (1360 kHz) is an AM radio station serving the Corpus Christi, Texas area with a News/Talk format. KKTX is under ownership of iHeartMedia, Inc. The station's studios and offices are located on Old Brownsville Road in Corpus Christi (near the airport, and its transmitter tower is located in the city's west side along Leopard Street. KKTX began broadcasting as KGFI in 1929, owned by the '' Caller-Times''. It became KRIS in 1936, and KRYS in 1956. Blake Farenthold, a Republican who began representing Corpus Christi in the United States House of Representatives for Texas's 27th congressional district in 2011, co-hosted ''Lago in the Morning'' on KKTX from 1997 to 2010. The Dallas Cowboys Radio Network is an American radio network broadcasting all Dallas Cowboys football games to stations across all of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico during the NFL season. Since the 2009 NFL season, it has been an arm of Entercom (formerly CBS Radio) and comprises over 50 stations with KRLD-FM in Dallas being the flagship station. Prior to 2009, Cowboys games were broadcast on 1310 AM KTCK "The Ticket" and 93.3 FM KDBN "The Bone", and also previously on 103.7 KVIL FM and 98.7 FM KLUV "K-LUV". Texas's 27th Congressional District
Texas's 27th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives covers the coastal bend of Texas' Gulf Coast consisting of Corpus Christi and Victoria up to Bastrop County near Austin. Its current representative is Republican Michael Cloud. Cloud was elected to the district in a special election on June 30, 2018, to replace former Republican representative Blake Farenthold, who had resigned on April 6. The 27th district was created as a result of the redistricting cycle after the 1980 Census. The district is slightly less than 50% Hispanic, down from the 70% Hispanic population in the 2002–2010 cycles when the district reached from Corpus Christi to Brownsville. The ''Corpus Christi Caller-Times'' is the newspaper of record for Corpus Christi, Texas. History There has been a newspaper in Corpus Christi for almost as long as there has been a town. In 1883, the ''Caller'' was started in a frame building at 310 North Chaparral, now the site of Green's Jewelers. Corpus Christi International Airport
Corpus Christi International Airport is west of Corpus Christi, in Nueces County, Texas. It opened in 1960, replacing Cliff Maus airport at , where the Lozano Golf Center is now located. The airport's six-gate Hayden Wilson Head Terminal, designed by Gensler, opened on November 3, 2002, with a theme of "When the Sun Meets the Sea." The Corpus Christi International Airport has tried to attract airline service from Mexico, the latest attempt being in 2005.
