Kategoria e Dytë is the third professional level of football in Albania. It was called the ''Second Division'' until 2003. Kategoria e Dytë has two groups, A and B. which are divided geographically. It is made up of 23 teams. The winners of each group earn the right to be promoted to the Kategoria e Parë and they also play a single final for seasonal champions. Teams which finish in the last 2 positions on each group are relegated to the Kategoria e Tretë Kategoria e Tretë is the fourth and lowest professional level of football in Albania. The 2023–24 Kategoria e Dytë is the 52nd official season of the Albanian football third division since its establishment. There are 23 teams competing this season, split in 2 groups. The winners of the groups will play the league's final against each other and will also gain promotion to the 2024–25 Kategoria e Parë. Teams ranked from the 2nd to the 5th position will qualify to the play-off round where the winners will play against the 9th and 10th ranked teams in the 2023–24 Kategoria e Parë. Durrës ( , ; sq-definite, Durrësi) is the second most populous city of the Republic of Albania and seat of Durrës County and Durrës Municipality. It is located on a flat plain along the Albanian Adriatic Sea Coast between the mouths of the Erzen and Ishëm at the southeastern corner of the Adriatic Sea.
