KEYJ-FM (107.9 Hertz, MHz) is a commercial radio station located in Abilene, Texas. KEYJ-FM currently airs a mainstream rock radio format, format branded as "Rock 108" successfully blending "the best of the old and the new." The "Rock 108" branding came about in early 1989 (circa) as "The Home of Rock n Roll". This brought about a classic/current AOR format from its previous "Pop40" branded "Key-J 108". The station owners in the 80'-90's were Lloyd Mynat (who played Pro Football at one time) and Dave Boyal. The station is currently owned and operated by Townsquare Media. Before 1979, the call letters KEYJ were assigned to a station located in Jamestown, North Dakota broadcasting at 1400 AM broadcasting, AM (now KQDJ (AM), KQDJ), which gained brief fame in 1957, when it was featured in Life Magazine, as the home of the "World's Youngest D-J", Shadoe Stevens. KQDJ is an AM broadcasting, AM radio station located in Jamestown, North Dakota. The station is also heard on broadcast translator, translator K296HH at 107.1 FM. Shadoe Stevens (; ) is an American radio host, voiceover actor, and television personality. He was the host of ''American Top 40'' from 1988 to 1995. He currently hosts the internationally syndicated radio show ''Top of the World,'' and co-hosts ''Mental Radio'', an entertaining approach to UFOs and paranormal topics. He was co-founder and creator of Sammy Hagar's rock station "Cabo Wabo Radio" which broadcast from the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In television, he was the announcer for ''The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'' on CBS and, as of July 2015, serves as the primary continuity announcer for the Antenna TV network. KSLI (1280 AM, "92.5 The Ranch" is an AM radio station that serves the Abilene, Texas, area. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and airs a Red Dirt/Texas Country music format, simulcasting KMWX 92.5 FM Abilene. On Monday, March 1, 2010, the news/talk format on KSLI moved to sister station KYYW. KSLI then began broadcasting the classic country format that had been on KYYW. On Monday, February 10, 2020 KSLI transitioned from a classic country music format to a red dirt/Texas country music format. 1280 KSLI still airs Abilene Wylie High School basketball, baseball and softball games, and is affiliated with Texas Farm Bureau. KYYW
KYYW (1470 AM) is a news/talk radio station that serves the Abilene, Texas, area. The station is under ownership of Townsquare Media. History The station went on air in 1938 on a local channel. Its former callsign KRBC was made up of the first letters of Reporter Broadcasting Company (RBC). RBC was an affiliate of the ''Abilene Reporter-News'' newspaper. In late 1940s, the station changed frequencies to 1470 with 5,000 watts days and 1,000 watts at night using a three tower directional antenna located north of Abilene. Studios were in a downtown hotel for many years. KRBC radio later moved in with KRBC-TV (channel 9) on south 14th street. KRBC was spun off to some of its shareholders (members of the Fox family) in 1986. They later acquired an FM in nearby Merkel, Texas, which is today's KHXS (102.7).
