, also known as , is an electric utility with its operational area of Kansai region, Japan (including the Keihanshin megalopolis). The Kansai region is Japan's second-largest industrial area, and in normal times, its most nuclear-reliant. Before the Fukushima nuclear disaster, a band of 11 nuclear reactors – north of the major cities Osaka and Kyoto – supplied almost 50 percent of the region's power. As of January 2012, only one of those reactors was still running. In March 2012, the last reactor was taken off the powergrid. Korea Electric Power Corporation, better known as KEPCO (Hangul: 켑코) or Hanjeon (Hangul: 한전), is the largest electric utility in South Korea, responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and the development of electric power projects including those in nuclear power, wind power and coal. KEPCO E&C (full name: KEPCO Engineering & Construction Company, INC., formerly: KOPEC) is a power plant design and engineering company in South Korea. It was established in 1975 as a public enterprise. KEPCO E&C engages in designing, engineering, and constructing nuclear and fossil power plants. The company operates as a subsidiary of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). KEPCO E&C is providing total integrated Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. It has designed and built a total of 14  nuclear power plants using their own technology, including the development of APR-1400 next-generation nuclear power plant. The company has also designed and built over 40  coal power plants and combined cycle & cogeneration plants.
