KEGS (TV)
KEGS (channel 7) was an independent television station in Goldfield, Nevada, United States. It served both the Reno and Las Vegas markets by way of translators KRRI-LP (channel 25) in Reno and KEGS-LP (channel 30) in Las Vegas. Like many stations that were owned by Equity Broadcasting, the stations were operated remotely by satellite; their programming could be seen free-to-air on Galaxy 18. History The Las Vegas station was founded on January 12, 1993 as K63FD, and later gained the call sign KTVY-LP in 1997. In April 2002, the Goldfield station signed on as KTVY-TV, matching the station in Las Vegas. Finally, in late May 2005, both stations changed their call sign to the current KEGS. Until May 30, 2007, KEGS was affiliated with ImaginAsian. On that day, the station switched to the Retro Television Network (RTN). Goldfield, Nevada
Goldfield is an unincorporated community, unincorporated small desert city and the county seat of Esmeralda County, Nevada. It is the locus of the census-designated place, Goldfield CDP which had a resident population of 268 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, down from 440 in 2000. Goldfield is located southeast of Carson City, Nevada, Carson City, along U.S. Route 95 in Nevada, U.S. Route 95. Equity Media Holdings Corporation was a broadcasting company based in Little Rock, Arkansas that owned and operated television stations across the United States. Prior to March 30, 2007, the company was known as Equity Broadcasting, a name later used for its broadcast station subsidiary. The company had a focus on Hispanic and Asian American communities in large markets while owning a combination of English-language network affiliates in medium and small markets. Equity was known for its use of broadcast automation to control dozens of small, local UHF television broadcasting stations from one central Little Rock location; the feeds were readily visible on free-to-air satellite television through much of North America, despite the very small terrestrial footprint of the individual stations over the air. KELM-LP, UHF analog channel 43, was a low-powered Mexicanal- affiliated television station licensed to Reno, Nevada, United States. KELM-LP, the Mexicanal affiliate and its sister station, KRRI-LP, the Azteca America affiliate, both broadcast in Spanish, are housed in a glass-walled facility at the Meadowood Mall in south Reno. History On or around October 2008, the bankruptcy court sold KELM-LP to Ngensolutions LLC. Ngensolutions entered into negotiations with Mexicanal for an affiliation agreement for the Reno DMA. KELM-LP commenced broadcasting as a Mexicanal affiliate during September 2010 and started local production and insertion during October 2010 from its facilities at Meadowood Mall. KGNG-LD (channel 26) is a low-power television station in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, affiliated with HSN. It is owned by King Kong Broadcasting, with its transmitter located outside of Henderson on Black Mountain. History The station began as K25DB, a construction permit granted in February 1992 to Terry Zick, for a low power operation to broadcast from Potosi Mountain, southwest of Las Vegas. After several extensions of the construction permit, Zick sold the station in 1996 to King Kong Broadcasting, which had started the previous year with the goal of operating an Asian-language station. The new owners immediately changed the station's call sign to KGNG-LP, and the following year, moved the station from Potosi Mountain to Black Mountain, and from channel 25 to channel 47. KRXI-TV (channel 11) is a television station in Reno, Nevada, United States, affiliated with the Fox network. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which provides certain services to primary sports-formatted independent station and secondary MyNetworkTV affiliate KNSN-TV (channel 21, owned by Deerfield Media) and NBC affiliate KRNV-DT (channel 4, owned by Cunningham Broadcasting) through separate joint sales and shared services agreements (JSA/SSA).
