KDVC (98.3 FM; "The Dove") is a radio station serving the Columbia, Missouri area. It broadcasts a fully-automated soft adult contemporary format with no DJs. The station is owned by Iris Media, with Zimmer Radio Group operating and managing KDVC through a local marketing agreement. History From its launch on November 9, 2016, KDVC played commercial-free Christmas music as "K-Santa". Local Marketing Agreement
In North American broadcasting, a local marketing agreement (LMA), or local management agreement, is a contract in which one company agrees to operate a radio or television station owned by another party. In essence, it is a sort of lease or time-buy. Under Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations, a local marketing agreement must give the company operating the station (the "senior" partner) under the agreement control over the entire facilities of the station, including the finances, personnel and programming of the station. KFMZ (Columbia, Missouri)
KFMZ was a radio station on 98.3 FM in Columbia, Missouri, which broadcast between 1971 and 2001. KFMZ went off the air when its licensee, Contemporary Media, Inc., had all of its licenses cancelled in response to a Federal Communications Commission investigation. The 98.3 frequency remained vacant for 15 years until KDVC (FM), KDVC signed on in November 2016. History KFMZ signed on October 12, 1971. The station carried an album oriented rock (AOR) format. In 1974, a fire in downtown Columbia tore through a block of businesses; KFMZ's studios were affected by smoke damage, and employees moved equipment out by hand. The president of Contemporary Media was Michael S. Rice. In 1994, Rice was convicted of sexually abusing five teenagers in Missouri.
