KCZZ (1480 AM) is a Regional Mexican radio station licensed to Mission, Kansas and serving the Kansas City market. The station is owned by Edward Reyes, through licensee Reyes Media Group, Inc. History Prior to its current format, the station was, during the mid-1990s (as KCAZ), the home of Radio AAHS, a format that featured children's programming and music. After Radio AAHS discontinued operations in January 1998, Children's Broadcasting Corporation, the station's owner, needed programming for the ten CBC-owned and operated Radio AAHS stations until it could find buyers. In February 1998, KCAZ, along with the other nine CBC stations, became an outlet for "Beat Radio", which broadcast electronic dance music 12 hours a day until late October 1998. On September 8, 2019, when ESPN Deportes discontinued operations, the station flipped to a Regional Mexican format. KDTD
KDTD (1340 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Mexican Regional music format. Licensed to Kansas City, Kansas, United States, the station is currently owned by Edward Reyes, through licensee Reyes Media Group, Inc. History Establishment as WLBF Entrepreneur and businessman Everett L. Dillard is the individual credited with putting the station on the air as WLBF. Dillard began broadcasting from his personal residence, with the original studio and transmitter being built at 32nd and Main streets in Kansas City, Missouri. The station moved across the river in 1928, when it began to occupy the 11th floor of the Elks Lodge Building (905 North 7th Street) in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The building was last known as the Huron Building and was demolished in 1999. Beat Radio
Beat Radio originally was an unlicensed radio station in Minneapolis, Minnesota that played dance music. Founded by local radio DJ and programmer, Alan Freed, in 1996, the station served downtown Minneapolis and surrounding neighborhoods and reached into the western, northwestern and southwestern suburbs. The original station at 97.7 FM operated for 103 days until it was shut down by the Federal Communications Commission. Beat Radio subsequently moved to licensed stations and eventually became a nationwide radio network. Radio AAHS was a radio network managed by the Children's Broadcasting Corporation. Its flagship station was WWTC (1280 AM) in Minneapolis, which broadcast from the former First Federal Bank building at Minnesota State Highway 100 and Excelsior Boulevard in St. Louis Park. At its height in 1996, Radio AAHS had 29 affiliates across the nation. Founder Christopher Dahl had purchased WWTC in 1990 and created an outlet for children's music, specifically targeted at listeners 5 to 10. The musical format had songs from children's films, but also created a niche for songs recorded specifically to entertain children.
