KBIQ (102.7 FM), known as "Q102.7", is a Christian adult contemporary radio station in Manitou Springs, Colorado, serving the Colorado Springs, Colorado, area of the United States. The station is owned by the Salem Media Group. 102.7 history The current 102.7 license began life at 104.9 MHz in July 1953 as KCMS, "Colorado's Classical Music Station". It was owned by Bud Edmonds, doing business as the Garden of the Gods Broadcasting Company; Edmonds built the facility, the first stereo FM radio station west of the Mississippi River. Edmonds operated KCMS out of a studio he built in his garage at 68 Minnehaha Avenue. KCIS (630 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to Edmonds, Washington, and serving the Seattle metropolitan area. The station is owned by Crista Ministries and airs a Christian talk and teaching radio format. National and local religious leaders buy blocks of time from KCIS to air their shows, and they may seek donations to their ministries while on the air. KCIS is powered at 5,000 watts by day, using a non-directional signal. The daytime transmitter is co-located with the studios and offices, on Freemont Avenue North at Kings Garden Drive in Seattle. Cougar Mountain
Cougar Mountain is a peak in the Issaquah Alps in King County, Washington. It is part of the highlands in the Eastside suburbs of Seattle, and at it is the lowest and westernmost of the Alps. About two-thirds of Cougar Mountain has experienced residential development, and is home to many neighborhood communities such as Lakemont. The forested heart of the hill was officially preserved by King County in June 1983 as Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. Cougar Mountain is home to the Cougar Mountain Zoo. Geology Cougar Mountain was formed in the Miocene when tectonic forces folded western Washington along a northwest axis and created the Newcastle Anticline. HD Radio
HD Radio (HDR) is a trademark for an in-band on-channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcast technology. It generally simulcasts an existing analog radio station in digital format with less noise and with additional text information. HD Radio is used primarily by AM and FM radio stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a few implementations outside North America. The term "on channel" is a misnomer because the system actually broadcasts on the ordinarily unused channels adjacent to an existing radio station's allocation.
