KISV (94.1 FM, "HOT 94.1") is a Rhythmic Top 40 music formatted radio station based in Bakersfield, California. The American General Media outlet broadcasts with an ERP of 4.5 kW. Its studios are located at the Easton Business Complex in southwest Bakersfield, and its transmitter is located east of the city. History The station signed on the air in 1948 as KERN-FM. It was well known in the 1980s as KQXR or Q94 FM. At that time it had a Top 40 format that leaned towards adult contemporary. After taking a beating from then-rhythmic KKXX 105.3FM, the call letters were changed in 1989 to KERN-FM (94 Oldies), along with the format. For the next eight years the station supported an oldies format, specializing in Top 40 music from the years 1955-1974 and featuring syndicated shows such as "Cruisin' America with Cousin Brucie" and "Dick Clark's Rock, Roll & Remember." Taft (formerly Moron, Moro, and Siding Number Two) is a city in the foothills at the extreme southwestern edge of the San Joaquin Valley, in Kern County, California. Hummer H2
The Hummer H2 is a large SUV that was marketed by Hummer and built in the AM General facility under contract from General Motors from 2002 to 2009. KQKZ (92.1 FM "Q92.1") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to serve the community of Bakersfield, California. It is owned by Lotus Communications. Its studios are located in southwest Bakersfield, while its transmitter is located northeast of the city. It is a classic hits station branded Q92.1 (pronounced Q ninety-two-one). History Early years The station received its construction permit in 1985, and signed on as KIWI in 1987. In 1999, Lotus Communications acquired the station. The sale was consummated on August 24 of that year. For much of its existence before 2003, it played classical music. On January 21, 2003, the station changed its call sign to KPSL-FM. KKXX-FM (93.1 FM, "Hits 93.1") is a radio station broadcasting a Top 40 (CHR) musical format. KKXX-FM is licensed to Shafter, California, and serves the Bakersfield, California area. The station is owned by American General Media. The station's studios are located at Easton Business Complex in southwest Bakersfield, and its transmitter is located just north of Oildale. From the late 1970s through the early 2000s, under several owners, KKXX was one of the most popular radio stations in Bakersfield and Kern County for youth oriented music.
