KBAQ
KBAQ (89.5 FM, "K Bach") is a Phoenix metro area FM radio station that plays classical music twenty-four hours per day. It is co-owned by the Maricopa County Community College District and Arizona State University. A member of National Public Radio, its main transmitter was moved from the White Tank Mountains to South Mountain Park in 2006. An additional Translator is located on 89.7 and a live Internet audio stream is available. It is also simulcast on local PBS station KAET (owned by ASU) on digital channel 8.5, where it broadcasts in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. The main office and studio complex is located in Tempe (east suburban Phoenix) at the flagship location of Rio Salado College. KBAQ's slogan is "Your classical companion". KJZZ (91.5 FM, "K Jazz") is a National Public Radio member station in Phoenix, Arizona. Owned by Rio Salado College, it operates from studios on the college's campus in Tempe. KJZZ airs a format of NPR, jazz, and blues. KJZZ is sister station to the area's main classical music station, KBAQ. History The station signed on February 22, 1951, broadcasting from the campus of Phoenix College, then an arm of the Phoenix Union High School District, as KFCA. It was Phoenix's first FM radio station, broadcasting with 10 watts on 88.5 MHz. It became a part of the Maricopa County Junior College District, now the Maricopa County Community College District, when the district was formed in 1962. KOMR
KOMR (106.3 FM) in Sun City, Arizona, is a Spanish AC radio station serving the Phoenix area. The Univision station, along with sister stations KQMR in Globe and KKMR in Arizona City, is known on-air as "Amor 106.3". History The first attempt of a radio station on 106.3 FM in Sun City was KTPM, which was on the air for less than seven months after signing on June 13, 1962. It was co-owned with Wickenburg's KAKA by Lowell Beer and Paul Mullenix. However, the station was one of the quickest failures in Arizona radio history; it went temporarily silent on January 2, 1963, never to return; the Beer-Mullenix licenses were placed into receivership in June and never reemerged. The current KOMR signed on in 1975 as KWAO (broadcasting with a new license from the tower of defunct KTPM), targeting listeners in Sun City with an easy listening format. KABQ (AM)
KABQ (1350 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., and is airing a sports radio format as "Fox Sports 1350". It had been carrying all iHeart podcasts since 2019. KABQ's radio studios and offices are on NE Jefferson Street in Albuquerque. The transmitter is located off NW Montoya Street, also in Albuquerque. KABQ is powered at 5,000 watts by day using a non-directional antenna. To avoid interfering with other stations on AM 1350, it reduces power at night to 500 watts and uses a directional antenna, with a three-tower array. South Mountain Park
South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona is the largest municipal park in the United States, and one of the largest urban parks in North America and in the world. It has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride. Geography and ecology South Mountain Park preserves in a natural state a mountainous area of or approximately of native desert vegetation.
