KAYD-FM
KAYD-FM (101.7 MHz; "KD 101.7") is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Silsbee, Texas, United States, the station serves the Beaumont-Port Arthur area. The station is currently owned by Cumulus Media. Its studios are located on South Eleventh Street in Beaumont and its transmitter is located in Vidor, Texas. History KAYD was one of the oldest FMs in Texas. It began broadcasting March 1, 1948, on 99.5 MHz as KRIC and continued on that frequency in the 1950s until interference to viewers trying to watch KGUL (now KHOU) TV in Galveston caused the FCC to swap frequencies with Lake Charles, Louisiana, and put KRIC on 97.5 FM. Later the callsign was changed to KAYD to match its AM counterpoint, 1450 KAYC when it was acquired by Texas Coast Broadcasters, David H. Morris, President. KTCX is an urban contemporary formatted radio station in Beaumont, Texas. It serves the entire Golden Triangle and is owned by Cumulus Media. The station's studios are located on South Eleventh Street in Beaumont, and its transmitter is located between Beaumont and Fannett. KTCX "Magic 102.5" was launched on December 3, 1998 based on its current format. Because it is the market's only Urban-formatted station of any kind, it plays a variety of Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, Old School, and Gospel music to cater to all African American demographics including the Mainstream audience to the Adult audience, thus making it one of the highest rated stations (sometimes #1) in the Triangle. KBED (1510 AM; branded as Sports Radio Beaumont) is a radio station serving the Beaumont- Port Arthur area with a sports format. It is under ownership of Cumulus Media, and is simulcast with sister station KIKR AM 1450 Beaumont, Texas. Vidor ( ) is a city in western Orange County, Texas, United States. A city of Southeast Texas, it lies at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Farm to Market Road 105, east of Beaumont. The town is mainly a bedroom community for the nearby refining complexes in Beaumont and Port Arthur and is part of the Beaumont-Port Arthur metropolitan statistical area.
