KAKK (1570 AM broadcasting, AM, "Fox Sports 1570/93.7") is a radio station city of license, licensed to serve Walker, Minnesota, United States. The station is owned by De La Hunt Broadcasting and the broadcast license is held by Edward de la Hunt. The KAKK transmitter and tower are south of Walker, near the station's original home, when it was known as KLLR. KPRM (870 AM) is a radio station in Park Rapids, Minnesota. It has a hybrid adult contemporary/conservative talk radio format. Locally, it broadcasts the popular "Coffee Talk" morning show, and is currently simulcasted on KDKK and KAKK. National news comes from the CBS Radio Network, the classic country format (as well as Jim Bohannon's syndicated early-morning magazine ''America in the Morning'') comes from Westwood One and the station also carries Premiere Networks' Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show and ''The Sean Hannity Show''. Walker, Minnesota
Walker is a city in Cass County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 941 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cass County. Walker is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. Minnesota State Highways 34, 200, and 371 are three of the main routes in the city. History The area was inhabited for thousands of years by succeeding cultures of indigenous peoples. Before European settlement, the Ojibwe moved into the area from the Great Lakes, pushing out the historic Dakota peoples, such as the Assiniboine and Hidatsa. European American settlers followed the early fur traders and trappers, and encroached on Native American territories. Following the construction of the railroad to the area, Patrick McGarry founded Walker in 1896. He named the settlement after the logging giant Thomas B. De La Hunt Broadcasting is a small market radio broadcasting company based in Park Rapids, Minnesota. It is owned by Ed and Carol De La Hunt and was founded in 1962. The corporate offices and Park Rapids studios are located on the east side of Park Rapids, at 17340 State Highway 34. All of the stations get their programming from the Dial Global networks. History After working multiple radio jobs, Ed and Carol La Hunt decided to try running their own radio station. The first FCC application Ed and his wife filed was rejected. It wasn't until their second application was accepted in September 1962 that they began “building a 153-foot tower a mile west of Park Rapids. By mid-November, the station was ready.” In 1967, De la Hunt Broadcasting received an FM permit and "KDKK FM -- Music for Adults -- went on air with a 100,000-watt transmitter." Its main source of programming is from the Westwood One radio network, along with hourly news from the CBS Radio Network.
