K1000 Rally
K1000 or Karnataka 1000 Rally is the longest-running motorsports rally in India. It is the third oldest rally in the world. K1000 is the flagship annual event organised by Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC), one of the founder members of FMSCI, the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India. Started in 1975, K1000 is run over 1000 miles over a span of two or more days running across multiple states. Karnataka Motor Sports Club
Karnataka Motor Sports Club, popularly known as KMSC, is a state association for promoting and conducting motorsports in the Indian state of Karnataka. The club is based in Bengaluru. It is a founder member of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI), the governing body for motor sports in India. It is one of the oldest ‘active’ motorsports clubs in India. It holds the record of organising the Karnataka 1000 rally (K1000 rally) continuously for the last 48 years (except for two years). KMSC was started by a group of petrol heads, under the stewardship of Fred Webb, in 1954 under the initial name, Bangalore Motor Sports Club (BMSC). After a meeting with like-minded people including Cyril Doveton and John Webb (Fred's son) in the same year, the club was started and Fred Webb became its first president. Federation Of Motor Sports Clubs Of India
The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, abbreviated as FMSCI, is the governing body for motor sports in India and was founded in 1971. It is a long-standing member of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the world bodies for 2/3 and 4 wheeler motor sport respectively. Currently, FMSCI is the only national motor sport federation recognized by the Government of India for promotion and control of motor sport in India, and is affiliated to the Indian Olympic Association. The FMSCI is affiliated to thAsian Motorcycle Union(UAM), the Continental Asian wing of the FIM in 1986. FMSCI has been the FMN of the FIM uninterrupted for the last three decades. Indian National Rally Championship
Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) is a rallying series organised by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), which is the Governing Body or ASN of India recognised by FIA culminating with National Champion Driver and Co-Driver. The driver and co-drivers's championship are based on a point system. The championship first received its National Championship Title status in 1988. Rally formats Prior to the inception of INRC, Motor Rally in India was run on TSD (Time, Speed, and Distance) format. During 70's the TSD events ran into several states with distances covering several days and distances exceeded over 1000 km.
