K. T. Turner
K. T. Turner (born August 23, 1978) is an American basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team. Playing career Tuner played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College under Tim Jankovich before completing his playing career at Oklahoma City. He briefly played professionally in Italy. Coaching career Beginning his coaching career in the junior college ranks, Turner had assistant coaching stints at Panola College, Redlands Community College, Cowley College, and Hutchinson before landing on Willis Wilson's staff at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Turner would move on to Wichita State for two seasons before joining Larry Brown's staff at SMU. He'd continue on staff when his former junior college head coach Tim Jankovich took over as head coach, being elevated to associate head coach in 2016. UT Arlington Mavericks Men's Basketball
The UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Western Athletic Conference. Home games are played at College Park Center, located on the University of Texas at Arlington's campus in Arlington. The team appeared in the 2008 NCAA tournament, losing against the #1 seed Memphis in the first round, although Memphis was later forced to vacate the win due to infractions committed by the program. History The Mavericks are one of the founding teams of the Southland Conference, which began with five institutions on March 15, 1963. Tim Jankovich
Timothy Robert Jankovich (born June 4, 1959) is a former American college basketball coach and former head coach at Southern Methodist University. During his first year (2007–08) at Illinois State, Jankovich led the Redbirds to a 13–5 second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference – even though pre-season polls voted the team to be a fifth-place finisher. He was an assistant basketball coach at Kansas for four years, and served under current Kansas head coach Bill Self at Kansas and Illinois. He has also served as an assistant coach at Kansas State, Colorado State, Oklahoma State, Texas and Vanderbilt. He played college basketball at Washington State and Kansas State. While at Colorado State, his teams posted three consecutive winning seasons en route to the best period of college basketball in school history. 2023–24 UT Arlington Mavericks Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team represented the University of Texas Arlington in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by first-year head coach K. T. Turner and playde their games at College Park Center as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 20–14, 13–7 in WAC play to finish in third place. As the No. 3 seed in the WAC Tournament, they defeated Stephen F. Austin in the quarterfinals, and Tarleton in the semifinals, before losing to Grand Canyon in the championship game. Previous season The Mavericks finished the season 11–18, 6–12 in conference play to finish in a tie for tenth place. Larry Brown (basketball)
Lawrence Harvey Brown (born September 14, 1940) is an American basketball coach and former player who is currently an assistant coach of the Memphis Tigers. Brown is the only coach in basketball history to win both an NCAA national championship (Kansas Jayhawks, 1988) and an NBA title (Detroit Pistons, 2004). He has a 1,275–965 lifetime professional coaching record in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is the only coach in NBA history to lead eight teams (differing franchises) to the playoffs. He also won an ABA championship as a player with the Oakland Oaks in the 1968–69 season, and an Olympic Gold Medal in 1964.
