K-92 is an approximately state highway in the U.S. state of Kansas. western terminus is at south of the community of Rock Creek, and the eastern terminus is a continuation as Missouri State Route 92 at the Missouri border by the City of Leavenworth. is co-designated as U.S. Route 59 in Oskaloosa, from Oskaloosa to McLouth, and and in Leavenworth. The majority of the route passes through rural farmland and is almost entirely a two-lane roadway, except for the overlap with and and a portion of the overlap, which are four-lane. In the 1850s, a military road was built connecting Fort Riley with Fort Leavenworth, which follows or closely follows. Auto Trail
The system of auto trails was an informal network of marked routes that existed in the United States and Canada in the early part of the 20th century. Marked with colored bands on utility poles, the trails were intended to help travellers in the early days of the automobile. Auto trails were usually marked and sometimes maintained by organizations of private individuals. Some, such as the Lincoln Highway, maintained by the Lincoln Highway Association, were well-known and well-organized, while others were the work of fly-by-night promoters, to the point that anyone with enough paint and the will to do so could set up a trail. Trails were not usually linked to road improvements, although counties and states often prioritized road improvements because they were on trails. Centennial Bridge (Leavenworth, Kansas)
The Centennial Bridge is a through arch bridge road bridge over the Missouri River connecting Leavenworth, Kansas, and Platte County, Missouri. Constructed in 1955, it was initially a toll bridge. The bridge opened in 1955, a year after Leavenworth celebrated its centennial as the first city incorporated in Kansas. It is a two-span arch bridge connecting K-92 and Missouri Route 92. Its main span is 419.8 feet, and its total length is 2,571.2 feet. During the construction a spur of Route 45 called the "Leavenworth cutoff" was built to speed traffic to Kansas City, Missouri. The two-mile spur, even though it is in Missouri, was maintained by the city of Leavenworth until the tolls were removed from the Centennial Bridge in May 1977.
