K-6 (1968–1981 Kansas Highway)
K-5 is a state highway in northeastern Kansas. Remaining completely in the Kansas City metropolitan area, it connects Leavenworth to Kansas City. Route description K-5 begins on Sunshine Road at US-69 just south of the US 69 Missouri River Bridge. From there, it heads west until it turns off of Sunshine Rd. onto its own freeway alignment, which lasts for about . It then merges onto Interstate 635 south, then follows Leavenworth Road west until it meets Interstate 435. K-5 merges onto northbound I-435, splitting off two exits later. After heading north on 97th Street, and turning onto Hutton Road, it then follows Wolcott Drive towards Lansing. Fairfax Bridge (Missouri River)
The Fairfax Bridge was a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handled southbound U.S. Route 69 (US 69), connecting Interstate 635 (I-635) in Riverside, Missouri with the Seventh Street Trafficway in Fairfax, Kansas. Built by the Kansas City Bridge Company, it was long and had 13 spans on 15 piers. The bridge has now been removed, with the approach spans being demolished using explosive charges on January 16, 2015, and the main spans on January 24, 2015. History Ground was broken April 21, 1931, with the bridge opening on September 27, 1934, at a cost of $600,000. Originally carrying two-way traffic, it was restriped for two southbound lanes in 1957 following the opening of its sister bridge, the Platte Purchase Bridge, which handles northbound traffic. K-7 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Kansas. It is mostly a small country highway winding its way through the Osage Questas and Glaciated Regions of eastern Kansas, although a portion of the highway passes through the Kansas City metropolitan area. Significant portions of the highway overlap with U.S. Route 169 (US-169) and US-73. It also has junctions with two Interstate highways, Interstate 35 (I-35) in Olathe and I-70 in Bonner Springs. The portion of K-7 between Leavenworth and the Nebraska state line has been designated the "Glacial Hills Scenic Byway." Lansing is a city in Leavenworth County, Kansas, United States. It is situated along the west side of the Missouri River and Kansas-Missouri state border. US 69 Missouri River Bridge
The US 69 Missouri River Bridge is a girder bridge carrying U.S. Route 69 (US 69) over the Missouri River. It connects Interstate 635 (I-635) in Riverside, Missouri with the 7th Street Trafficway and Fairfax District in Kansas City, Kansas. Construction began in the fall of 2014. The bridge opened to automobile traffic in October 2016 and was formally opened to all traffic on March 16, 2017. In addition to automobiles, the bridge also carries bicycle and pedestrian traffic. It replaced the now-demolished Fairfax and Platte Purchase bridges. The bridge was constructed by the Missouri Department of Transportation at cost of $79 million (equivalent to $ million in ).
