K-1 World MAX 2006 World Championship Final
''K-1 World MAX 2006 World Championship Final'' was a kickboxing event promoted by the K-1 organization. It was the fifth K-1 World MAX final for middleweight kickboxers (70 kg/154 lb weight class), involving eight finalists and two reserve fighters, with all bouts fought under K-1 rules. Seven of the finalists had won elimination fights at the K-1 World MAX 2005 World Tournament Open, while the eighth, Virgil Kalakoda, had been invited despite losing his elimination match. The two reserve fighters had qualified via preliminary tournaments; Artur Kyshenko had won the K-1 East Europe MAX and Rayen Simson had won the K-1 MAX Netherlands. As well as tournament matches there were also a two opening fights and two super fights fought under K-1 rules (middleweight and heavyweight). Yokohama Arena
is an indoor arena located in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The capacity of the arena is 17,000 and was opened in 1989. The arena was modeled after US sports venue Madison Square Garden in New York City. It is a five-minute walk from the closest station, Shin-Yokohama Station on the JR/Yokohama Municipal Subway. As one of the largest concert venues in the Kantō region, it is a frequent location for artists to end their tours. Kozo Takeda
Kozo Takeda ( ja, 武田幸三 ; born December 27, 1972) is a Japanese actor and former welterweight kickboxer who was competing in K-1 MAX. He won Rajadamnern Stadium champion at welterweight in Muay Thai on January 21, 2001. He has made both the Welterweight and Super Welterweight Rajadamnern Stadium rankings. Yoshihiro Sato
is a Japanese kickboxer competing in K-1 at middleweight (−70 kg). He is the former world champion of Muay Thai in WKA and WPKC, and he won the Japanese national tournament of K-1 twice in 2006 and 2007. His official nickname is "Mugen Sniper" which means Infinite Sniper. He is Matsuzaka Generation. Ole Laursen
Ole 'Iron Fist' Laursen (born August 21, 1977) is a Filipino-born Danish Welterweight Muay Thai kickboxer and mixed martial artist, he competed in K-1 and in ONE Championship. Early life Laursen was born in Manila, Philippines to Danish father and a Spanish-Filipino mother and moved to Denmark with his family when he was two years old. Gagik Harutyunyan ( hy, Գագիկ Հարությունյան; born 8 March 1985), better known as Gago Drago, is an Armenian-born Dutch welterweight kickboxer from Alkmaar. He is known for his punch combinations and unpredictable kicking techniques and highly aggressive fighting style. Gago competed in K1-MAX and is trained at Loeks Gym, by Edwin van Os. Albert Kraus
Albert “The Hurricane” Kraus (born August 3, 1980) is a Dutch welterweight kickboxer. He was the first K-1 World MAX Tournament Champion in 2002 and also the first SUPERKOMBAT Middleweight Champion. Kraus has also held four separate world titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai. He is currently fighting out of Super Pro Gym. Ali Gunyar (born 22 September 1979 in Eindhoven) is a Turkish-Dutch middleweight Muay Thai kickboxer fighting out of Eindhoven, Netherlands for Team Gunyar, where he is trained by his brother Suleyman Gunyar. Takayuki Kohiruimaki
is a Japanese welterweight kickboxer and karateka competing in K-1 MAX. His real name is Takayuki Kohiruimaki. He started calling himself Taishin Kohiruimaki in 2008. Biography Young age Taishin Kohiruimaki was born as Takayuki Kohiruimaki in Misawa, Aomori, November 11, 1977. He started learning karate at the branch of Kyokushin kaikan, and then he started kickboxing at Active J, a kickboxing gym in Tokyo. Remigijus Morkevičius
Remigijus Morkevičius (10 August 1982 – 21 December 2016) was a Lithuanian mixed martial artist and kickboxer. He has fought for the Lithuanian branch of RINGS, ZST, and K-1 World MAX. Career and biography Morkevičius began kickboxing and Muay Thai at age of 14. He started off his career in Lithuania as a kickboxer becoming a national champion in both kickboxing and Muay Thai. He transitioned across to MMA in 2002 defeating Darius Baliulis at a local event. This win led to his being signed by Japanese promotion ZST and he would make a quick impact in Japan, knocking out his first four opponents in brutal fashion (mostly with his trademark knees) and qualifying for the 2004 ZST Grand Prix where he would suffer his first MMA defeat to Marcus Aurélio in the Semi Finals.
