K-pop Star (season 1)
The first season of ''Survival Audition K-pop Star'' ( ko, 서바이벌 오디션 K팝 스타) premiered on December 4, 2011, airing every Sunday evening at 6:30 pm under the ''Good Sunday'' programming block on Seoul Broadcasting System, SBS, until April 29, 2012. The first winner was Park Ji-min (singer, born 1997), Park Ji-min, who chose to sign with JYP Entertainment. The three judges for this season were Yang Hyun-Seok, Yang Hyun-suk, founder of YG Entertainment and former member of the popular South Korean act Seo Taiji & Boys, Park Jin-young, singer/songwriter and founder of JYP Entertainment, and Korean pop icon BoA, from S.M. Entertainment, SM Entertainment. Singer, Yoon Do-hyun, and entertainer, Boom (entertainer), Boom, hosted the live competition from March 4, 2012 to April 29, 2012 when the winner is crowned. Park Jin-young
Park Jin-young (Hangul: 박진영; born December 13, 1971), also known by his stage names J. Y. Park and The Asiansoul or the initials JYP, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, record producer, record executive, and reality television show judge. Park rose to stardom as a singer following the release of his 1994 debut album, ''Blue City''. In 1997, he became the founder of JYP Entertainment, one of the most profitable entertainment agencies in South Korea. As the former head of JYP Entertainment (May 1997–Feb 2011), Park has developed and managed highly successful K-pop artists including Rain, Wonder Girls, 2PM, Miss A, Got7, Day6, Twice, Stray Kids, Itzy, and Nmixx, as well as Mandopop group Boy Story and J-pop group NiziU. Early life and education Park was born in Seoul. His father was a news correspondent based in the U.S. At age 9, Park moved with his mother to New York following his father's reassignment.
