K-1 (Kansas Highway)
K-1 is a , north-south state highway in southern Comanche County, Kansas, United States, that connects Oklahoma State Highway 34 (SH‑34),with U.S. Route 160/ U.S. Route 183 (US‑160/US‑183). Route description K-1 begins at the Oklahoma state line, where it is a continuation of Oklahoma State Highway 34. From its southern terminus it heads in north, turning slightly to the northwest before heading directly north again. It passes through the unincorporated community of Buttermilk, which is the only community on the route. From Buttermilk, K-1 continues north until it reaches it northern terminus at an intersection with US‑160/US‑183, south of Coldwater. US‑160/US‑183 continues north to Coldwater and west to Protection. The entire route of K-1 is paved with partial design bituminous pavement, a type of bituminous pavement which is not designed or constructed to carry the highway's expected traffic. History Kinsley was originally called Petersburg, and under the latter name laid out in 1873. It was later renamed Peter's City, and finally the name Kinsley was adopted honoring E.W. K-22 (Kansas Highway)
K-22 is a north–south highway in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located entirely within Washington County, the route runs from U.S. Route 36 (US-36) north to the city limit of Haddam. A previous designation of the route existed in the 1930s from Wichita to Topeka, but was deprecated. The current alignment was designated in the 1940s. Route description K-22 begins at an intersection with US-36, known as 17th Road. The route continues south as Deer Road toward Vining. From this intersection, K-22 heads north along Deer Road through a grassland area to an intersection with 18th Road. The route then crosses the Mulberry Creek and runs near it until it reaches Haddam. The roadway then crosses Mill Creek before meeting its northern terminus at 20th Road, on the south city limit of Haddam near an intersection with Logan Street. Phillipsburg is a city in, and the county seat of, Phillips County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 2,337. History Phillipsburg was organized in 1872 and named the county seat due to its central location in the county on July 26, though the first residents didn't arrive until late that year. It was named for politician and journalist William A. Phillips. Phillipsburg was incorporated as a city in 1880. The first post office was established in Phillipsburg on December 23, 1872, with the first postmaster being Fred A Dutton, but the name of the post office was spelled Phillipsburgh until 1893. Stockton is a city in and the county seat of Rooks County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,480. History 19th century Stockton was founded in 1872. A large share of the first settlers were cattle dealers, or stockmen, and they named their new home Stocktown, or as it soon became Stockton. Stockton was incorporated as a city in 1879. Plainville is a city in Rooks County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,746. It was named from its setting upon the plains. History Washington Irving Griffin settled along a freight trail in an area known as Paradise Flats in 1877. In order to establish a post office, Griffin completed a US Postal Service application that required the signature of the local Justice of the Peace. While reviewing the application, Justice of the Peace Lambert P. Darland suggested the name "Plainville".
