Július Šupler
Július Šupler (born 27 October 1950 in Poprad, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak ice-hockey coach. Šupler has been coach of HC Dukla Trenčín and Riga 2000 and was the first coach of Slovakia national team. Playing career Šupler began playing ice hockey in his hometown of Poprad and later played in Liptovský Mikuláš. In 1970–1972 he played for Slovan Bratislava and in 1972–1976 for VSŽ Košice. Coaching career He started coaching as the assistant coach in Poprad 1979–1985, as the head coach in 1985–1987. In 1991–92 season he won Czechoslovakia title with Dukla Trenčín. Since 1993 he was the head coach of Slovakia national team. He led Slovakia to the A-category of IIHF World Championship in the least possible time, by winning the C-category in 1994 and B-category in 1995. Hockey Club Donbass ( uk, Хокейний Клуб Донбас; russian: link=no, Хоккейный Клуб Донбасс, '' tr. Hokeinyi Klub Donbas'') is a Ukrainian professional ice hockey team based in Druzhkivka, currently playing in the Ukrainian Hockey League. HC Donbass is six times Ukrainian champion (2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018). The 2008 IIHF World Championship was played between May 2 and May 18, 2008 in the Canadian cities of Halifax (Nova Scotia) and Quebec City (Quebec). The two venues were the Halifax Metro Centre and the Colisée Pepsi. The tournament was won by Russia which claimed its first gold medal since 1993. It was the 72nd IIHF World Championship event, and was run by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It was the first time the final tournament is held in a non-European country since 1962, when it was held in Colorado, USA. Zdeno Cíger
Zdeno Cíger (born 19 October 1969) is a Slovak former professional hockey player, and currently hockey coach. He played for the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils, Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Zdeno Cíger was drafted 54th overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils as their 3rd choice. Cíger played in 352 NHL games, amassing 94 goals and 134 assists. His best year came up in the 1995-1996 season when he scored 31 goals and added 39 assists, after which he would leave the NHL before briefly returning 6 years later during the 2001–02 NHL season.
