Justin Lafferty
Justin Augustus Lafferty (born May 13, 1971) is an American politician from the state of Tennessee. A Republican, Lafferty has represented the 89th district of the Tennessee House of Representatives, based in the western suburbs of Knoxville, since 2019. Career In 2018, Roger Kane announced his retirement from the 89th district of the Tennessee House of Representatives, and a crowded field formed to replace him. Lafferty, a stay-at-home father and a landlord, was considered a significant underdog against several of his competitors, including former Knox County sheriff Tim Hutchison and former state senator Stacey Campfield. However, Lafferty outpolled both to win the primary with just over 30% of the vote. In the strongly Republican suburban seat, Lafferty went on to soundly win the general election over Democrat Coleen Martinez, 64-36%. Roger Kane
Roger Kane (born 1963) is an American politician. He is a Republican and former member of the Tennessee House of Representatives for the 89th district, encompassing part of Knox County, Tennessee, including Knoxville. Biography Early life He was born on November 28, 1963. His father worked for the United States Army, and he has four siblings. He graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's in Business Administration and History Education. He currently is working on his Masters in Public Administration. Career In 1988, he started his career in insurance at the Farmers Insurance Group. In 1996, he moved to Tennessee and by 1999, he managed his own agency. Since 2007, he has also taught with Kaplan Financial Ltd. He served as a Tennessee state representative. He was President of the Karns Business Association and the Karns Fair Board. WSMV-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, affiliated with NBC. It is owned by Gray Television alongside low-power Telemundo affiliate WTNX-LD (channel 15). The two stations share studios on Knob Road in west Nashville, where WSMV-TV's transmitter is also located. History Early years WSMV first signed on the air as WSM-TV on September 30, 1950, at 1:10 p.m. CT. It was Nashville's first television station and the second in Tennessee, behind fellow NBC affiliate WMCT (now sister station WMC-TV, then also on channel 4) in Memphis. Pearson for violating the chamber's decorum rules by leading personal protests for gun reform on the House floor and joining demonstrators in the chamber's public galleries during a legislative session three days after the 2023 Nashville school shooting, 2023 Covenant School shooting. He served as the Republican member of the Tennessee Senate from the 7th district, including Knoxville, Farragut, University of Tennessee, Powell and other parts of Knox County.
