Just Say Roe
Originally released in 1994, ''Just Say Roe'' was the seventh and final in the ''Just Say Yes (compilation album), Just Say Yes'' series from Sire Records. It contained primarily non-album tracks of artists on the label, most of which were alternative rock, but also included some Pop music, pop and Electronic dance music, dance. It was conceived specifically as a pro-choice album, put together by Sire after a letter from a listener named Todd VerBeek suggested the title and praised Sire for their willingness to address other politically sensitive issues (including Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, voter registration, and AIDS education). Belly (band)
Belly is an alternative rock band formed in Rhode Island in 1991 by former Throwing Muses and Breeders member Tanya Donelly. The original lineup consisted of Donelly on vocals and guitar, Fred Abong on bass, and brothers Tom and Chris Gorman on guitar and drums respectively. The band released two albums during the early 1990s alternative rock boom before breaking up in 1995. They reunited in 2016 and mounted limited tours in the United States and United Kingdom that year. All four original members knew each other from high school on Aquidneck Island, Rhode Island – the Gormans and Abong coming out of the Newport hardcore scene (the Gormans having played in Verbal Assault, Abong in Vicious Circle). Greenberry Woods
The Greenberry Woods is a power pop quartet formed in 1989 by songwriters Matt Huseman and Ira Katz while students at the University of Maryland. They were later joined by Huseman's twin brother Brandt Huseman on bass and drummer Miles Rosen. Named for a suburban Maryland housing development, the band released only two albums before disbanding in 1996. They reunited in 2018 and released an album, ''House'', of material recorded between 1989 and 1995. History Upon graduation, the band moved to Baltimore. They hired manager John Lay, whose previous clients included Squeeze and Robyn Hitchcock. The Greenberry Woods were signed by Seymour Stein to Sire Records in February 1993. Ride (band)
Ride is an English rock band formed in Oxford in 1988. The band consists of vocalists and guitarists Andy Bell and Mark Gardener, drummer Laurence "Loz" Colbert and bassist Steve Queralt. They are recognised as one of the key pioneers of shoegaze, an alternative rock subgenre that emerged to prominence in the United Kingdom during the early 1990s. The band's first two albums, ''Nowhere'' (1990) and ''Going Blank Again'' (1992), are critically acclaimed as two of the greatest shoegaze albums of all time. The latter's lead single, "Leave Them All Behind", was the band's most commercially successful song, reaching No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart. The Judybats (sometimes stylized as merely Judybats or JudyBats) were an American alternative rock band from Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, active primarily in the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s. The band released three successful singles that charted on the '' Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart: "Native Son", "Saturday" and "Being Simple", the latter of which peaked at No. 7. Bigod 20 was a German EBM/techno band which was formed in 1988 by music producers Andreas Tomalla (a.k.a. Talla 2XLC and formerly of the band Moskwa TV) and Markus Nikolai (a.k.a. Jallokin). Nikolai, together with Thomas Franzmann, run the Berlin based Perlon record label. Tripmaster Monkey is an indie rock band from the Quad Cities in Illinois and Iowa. Members of the band are originally from Davenport, Iowa, Rock Island, Illinois, and East Moline, Illinois East Moline is a city in Rock Island County, Illinois, United States. Danielle Dax (born 23 September 1958) is an English experimental musician and producer most active from the late-1970s to the mid-1990s. Early life She was born Danielle Gardner, in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. Dax's first performance on stage in London was when she was a pre-teen. She sang in Benjamin Britten's opera, ''Noye's Fludde'' (Noah's Flood), at the Royal Albert Hall. Preceding this, the first time Dax appeared on stage was at the age of three as an orange Jelly Baby on the Southend bandstand.
