Just A Little Harmless Sex
''Just a Little Harmless Sex'' is a 1999 American romantic sex comedy film which revolves around a stranded motorist (and prostitute)'s offer to perform oral sex on a monogamous man who stops to help her. The unlikely good Samaritan must telephone his wife to bail him out in the middle of the night upon his arrest for the encounter. She throws him out of the house just a few days later and goes out with her friends to enjoy a sexy night on the town. The denouement takes place when all the parties meet at a local nightclub for explanations and apologies. The film was directed by Rick Rosenthal, written by Roger Mills and Marti Noxon, and stars Alison Eastwood and Jonathan Silverman. The film received generally poor reviews from critics, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 20% derived from five professional reviews. Writing for ''The New York Times'', Lawrence Van Gelder compared the film to a TV sitcom, and said the movie was "well cast, well acted and thoroughly inconsequential". ... Rick Rosenthal
Richard L. Rosenthal, Jr. (born June 15, 1949) is an American film instructor and director, known for directing '' Halloween II'' and '' Halloween: Resurrection''. Early life, family and education Rosenthal was born in New York City, the son of Hinda (née Gould) and entrepreneur Richard L. Rosenthal, Sr. Career Rosenthal started his career by directing '' Halloween II'' and returned to the series 21 years later, helming '' Halloween: Resurrection''. In between he has directed films such as ''American Dreamer'' (1984), ''Russkies'' (1987), ''Distant Thunder'' (1988) and ''Just a Little Harmless Sex'' (1998). He also directed dozens of episodic television shows, and was co-executive producer of the landmark Warner Bros. TV series ''Life Goes On'' for ABC from 1989-1991. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Lawrence Van Gelder
Lawrence Ralph Van Gelder (February 17, 1933 – March 11, 2016) was an American journalist and instructor in journalism who worked at several different New York City-based newspapers in his long career. Until 2010, he was senior editor of the Arts and Leisure weekly section of '' The New York Times'', as well as a film critic. Among the newspapers for which Van Gelder worked were the '' New York Daily Mirror'', the ''New York Journal-American'' and the '' World-Journal-Tribune''.
