Antonius Johannes Jurgens
Antonius Johannes Jurgens, also known as Anton Jurgens (8 February 1867 – 12 March 1945) was a Dutch businessman. He was born in Oss, the grandson of Joanna Lemmens and of Antoon Jurgens, who founded a butter company in 1867 and, in 1871, the first margarine factory in the world. The Jurgens family had moved from the neighborhood of Heerlen, in the south of the Netherlands and close to the German border, to Oss, where the family company was founded; they were known as the ''moffen'', a derogatory term for Germans. Anton Jurgens became the ''pater familias'' of the company, which would retain its family structure until the fusion with Van den Bergh in 1927. Jurgens succeeded his father in business at the age of 21, and was one of the main European margarine and soap manufacturers in the early twentieth century with Pieter-Eduard Leverd. Antoon Jurgens
Antoon Jurgens (1805-1880) was a Dutch merchant and industrialist. He founded a butter company that grew to be one of the largest butter and margarine companies in Europe. His company was instrumental in the formation of Margarine Unie which, in 1930, merged with Lever Brothers to form Unilever. Family He was the son of Wilhelmus Jurgens and Henrica van Valkenburg. Wilhelmus, Leonard and Jan were brothers from Nieuwenhagen who came to Oss at the turn of the nineteenth century. Jurgens uncle, Leonard also married a member of the Valkenburg family, the van Valkenburgs were one of the biggest trading families in Oss. Under the Jurgens, the van Valkenburg business expanded. Arvīds Jurgens
Karlis ArvÄ«ds Jurgens (27 May 1905 in Riga, Russian Empire – 17 December 1955 in Montreal, Quebec) was a Latvian footballer, ice hockey, basketball and bandy player who play played for Latvia national teams in all four of these sports. He was one of the best all-around Latvian sportsmen. Football career Jurgens began playing football with JKS Riga in 1921, in 1922 winning silver medals of Riga championship with the club, although he was mainly the second choice goalkeeper behind Hermanis Saltups. When in 1923 RFK was formed, Jurgens alongside most of the JKS footballers joined the new club which proved to be the flagman of Latvian football in the years to come. From 1924 to 1926 Jurgens won three Latvian league titles with RFK and became a two-time winner of the Riga Football Cup. Cameron Jurgens (born August 21, 1999) is an American football center for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Early years Jurgens grew up in Pickrell, Nebraska and attended Beatrice High School. He played tight end, fullback, linebacker, and punter on the football team and also played basketball and threw discus and shot put on the track team. College career Jurgens began his freshman season at tight end and appeared in one game before suffering a foot injury and redshirting the rest of the season. He is known for his work on the DC comic book storyline "The Death of Superman" and for creating characters such as Doomsday, Hank Henshaw and Booster Gold. Richard Henry Jurgens (January 9, 1910 – October 5, 1995) was an American swing music bandleader and composer who enjoyed great popularity in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Life and early career Dick Jurgens was born in Sacramento, California, United States, to Dietrich Heinrich Jurgens and Clara Matilda Jurgens (née Erath). Jurgens played in an orchestra in high school but was kicked out of the ensemble for playing pop music. In response, he formed his own group in 1928 while still a student. His brother Will Jurgens was a member; Will later became Dick's manager during his years of fame. Lois Germaine Josephine Zerwas Jurgens (August 12, 1925 – May 7, 2013) was an American convicted murderer responsible for one of the most unusual child murder cases in history in Minnesota. She was the adoptive mother of six children in the 1960s and 1970s, and brutally abused them all, killing one of them, 3-year-old Dennis Jurgens, in 1965. Biography Jurgens was one of 16 children. Her brother, Jerome Zerwas, was the police lieutenant of the town of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where she lived at the time. William A. Jurgens (July 3, 1928 — September 1, 1982) was an American Roman Catholic priest, composer, historian, musician, and translator of patristic and other works. Early life He was born July 3, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, to Charles B. and Ruth C. ( Gardner) Jurgens. He had two brothers (Charles and James) and two sisters (Donna and Jeanne).
