Juoksengi
Juoksengi () is a locality situated in Övertorneå Municipality, Norrbotten County, Sweden with 350 inhabitants in 2010. It is located on the Torne River, at the border with Finland, which runs through the middle of the river. On the Finnish side of the river the village Juoksenki is located. They were considered one village until the national border was drawn in 1809. The Arctic Circle runs through Juoksengi. Polcirkeln/Svanstein FF is a Swedish football club located in Juoksengi. Background Polcirkeln/Svanstein FF (abbreviated Pol/Svanstein FF) was formed in 1993 following the merger of Svansteins SK and IF Polcirkeln. Up to 2001 the club was known as IF Polcirkeln/Svanstein. Polcirkeln/Svanstein FF currently plays in Division 4 Norrbotten Norra which is the sixth tier of Swedish football. They play their home matches at the Svansteins IP in Juoksengi. Övertorneå Municipality
Övertorneå Municipality (, ) is a municipality in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden, bordering Finland. Its seat is located in Övertorneå. Until the Finnish War (1808–1809) Övertorneå and the Finnish Ylitornio were a single parish. Following the war, the eastern part of the municipality was ceded to Russia as a part of Finland. In 1870 a minor part of Övertorneå Municipality was split off, forming the rural municipality Korpilombolo (now part of Pajala Municipality). In 1969 Övertorneå and Hietaniemi municipalities were merged, forming the present municipality. Many places in the municipality have both a Swedish and a Finnish name, in the local dialect of Finnish known as Meänkieli, one of the minority languages of Sweden. Torne River
The Torne, also known as the Tornio ( fi, Tornionjoki, sv, Torne älv, , se, Duortneseatnu, fit, Tornionväylä), is a river in northern Sweden and Finland. For approximately half of its length, it defines the border between these two countries. In the upper parts, the river is situated in Sweden before it meets the Muonio (river), Muonio River where it adjoins the international border. It rises at the lake Torneträsk near the border with Norway and flows generally southeast for a distance of into the Gulf of Bothnia. It is the largest river in Norrbotten County both by length and by watershed area.
