Juno Common School District
Juno Common School District No. 4 was a school district formerly based in Juno, Texas. It was a one room schoolhouse. Clippingfrom Newspapers.com. History A building with segregated schools for black students and white students - with 29 and 88 students, respectively, was active in the town in 1901. The school for black students was on a part time basis. In 1964 the student enrollment was 18. Circa 1976 the student body was typically around 7-13. By 1976 it was the only common school district remaining in Val Verde County. At the time some students took school buses and some students used other means of transportation if they came from isolated areas. In 1980 there were a total of four students. The sole teacher used the World Book Encyclopedia in her instruction. It operated until 1992, when it had an enrollment of eight, with two of the pupils being the children of the teacher. Juno, Texas
Juno was a small unincorporated community in Val Verde County, Texas, United States, in the southwestern part of the state. Its last business closed in 1984, and the only remnant of Juno now is a lone ranch. What remains of the village was, by 2013, situated on private ranch land. The Allamoore Independent School District was a public school district based in the community of Allamoore, Texas, United States. The approximately district was known as the Allamoore Consolidated Independent District prior to 1992. History The one room schoolhouse was built circa 1910. In previous eras the school had two teachers and in later eras there was only one teacher who also did all administrative functions. Divide Independent School District
Divide Independent School District is a public school district based in the community of Mountain Home in western Kerr County, Texas, United States. In terms of students served, Divide ISD is the smallest district in Texas; the 2015 "graduation/promotion ceremony" featured a mere 11 students and the district had as few as eight students at the beginning of the 2014–2015 school year. Divide ISD serves much of western Kerr County. Divide ISD is one of the few remaining schools called " one room schoolhouses" in the United States. San Angelo ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Tom Green County, Texas, United States. ''San Angelo Standard-Times'' is a daily newspaper based in San Angelo, Texas, United States that was established in 1884. It is owned by Gannett. History The newspaper was established in 1884 by J. G. Murphy, the city's second mayor. Mr. Murphy sold the paper in the 1920s to Houston Harte. In 1924, it became one of the two original flagships of the Harte-Hanks newspaper chain. The ''San Angelo Standard-Times'' building was constructed in 1951, providing 38,000 square feet on two floors. In 1984, a rehabilitation project added another 10,000 square feet. One-room schools, or schoolhouses, were commonplace throughout rural portions of various countries, including Prussia, Norway, Sweden, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain. In most rural and small town schools, all of the students met in a single room. There, a single teacher taught academic basics to several grade levels of elementary-age children. Del Rio is a city and the county seat of Val Verde County in southwestern Texas, United States. The city is 152 miles west of San Antonio. As of 2020, Del Rio had a population of 34,673. The ''Del Rio News-Herald'' was a newspaper published in Del Rio, Texas, covering Val Verde County. The publication's origins date back to 1884, but the paper took on its current name after a consolidation of two separate titles in 1929. It was owned by Southern Newspapers Inc. and published Tuesday through Friday afternoons and on Sunday morning. Its final issue was published on November 18, 2020.
