Junior Tour Of Wales
The Junior Tour of Wales is an annual cycle race for junior male riders, held around Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent, Wales. First held in 1981, the race is the final round of the British Cycling Junior Road Series – and as such attracts the best junior racing cyclists from across the UK, as well as elite international junior teams from across Europe and beyond. From 1981 until 1993 the race consisted of three stages held over two days. In 1993 it was expanded to three days and held on the August Bank Holiday for the first time. In 2017 it switched to a four-day format. In recent years the race's final stage has finished on the Tumble: this climb often decides the winner of the race. Steve Jones and Eddie Smart were regular helpers at the Junior Tour of Wales. Following their death in a car accident, organiser John Richards introduced a shield to be awarded in their honour for the best Welsh rider. Noah Hobbs (born Alfred Bruce Noah Hobbs, 23 July 2004) is an English road racing and track cyclist who currently rides for . His career highlights include leading the 2023 Arctic Race of Norway after Stage 2 and winning a gold medal in the under-23 Team Pursuit at the 2023 UEC European Track Championships. Hobbs has described himself as a sprinter, but one who can "can get over some climbs that some of the other pure sprinters might struggle on." Joshua Thomas "Josh" Edmondson (born 6 July 1992) is a British road racing cyclist, who most recently rode for British amateur team Crimson Orientation Marketing RT. Earlier in his career, Edmondson rode for UCI World Tour squad in 2013 and 2014. Samuel James Harrison (born 24 June 1992) is a Welsh racing cyclist. He has twice won medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, in 2011, and 2013. Cycling career Harrison is from Risca, Newport. He tried cycling after hearing his friends saying that Newport Velodrome was fun, and at the age of 13 he was soon racing with the local club, Cwmcarn Paragon. He was selected to be a member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme in 2008. Timothy Craig Kennaugh (born 28 November 1991) is a Manx cycling coach and former racing cyclist. Biography Born in Douglas, Isle of Man, Tim used to have a strong interest in football but Kennaugh was quick to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Peter Kennaugh, he was selected to ride for the British Talent Team in 2007 before becoming a member of British Cyclings Olympic Development Programme. Erick Rowsell (born 29 July 1990) is a British former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2012 and 2019 for the , , and teams. Peter Robert Kennaugh MBE (born 15 June 1989) is a Manx former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2010 and 2019 for and . In 2012 he won the gold medal as part of the Great Britain Team Pursuit team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, becoming the first Manxman in 100 years to win gold.
