Julyan Sinclair
Julyan Sinclair is an Orcadian television and radio presenter. He won a BAFTA in 2002 for "Best New Television Presenter" for his work on various Scottish Television arts and entertainment programmes. Television career He has previously hosted ''Scotsport'', along with Jim Delahunt and Sarah O, on STV. Both Sinclair and Sarah O'Flaherty left the programme in 2006, with Jim Delahunt leaving shortly after. Sinclair has also directed network television programmes. Julyan has appeared as a guest presenter on STV's daily lifestyle show '' The Hour'' on a few occasions, alongside main anchor Michelle McManus since November 2009. The Scottish magazine programme airs weekdays at 5pm. Radio Sinclair was an overseas correspondent for US and Australian radio stations, having spent a year in the US working for a radio station, and being employed at Triple J (the Australian version of the UK's Radio 1) during his time down under. Orcadians, also known as Orkneymen, are an ethnic group native to the Orkney Islands, who speak an Orcadian dialect of the Scots language, a West Germanic language, and share a common history, culture and ancestry. Nation Radio Scotland (formerly ''XFM Scotland (2014), 96.3 Rock Radio'' ''Real XS,'' ''Q96'' and ''96.3QFM'') is a Scottish independent local radio station for Renfrewshire, Glasgow and West Central Scotland, owned by Nation Broadcasting. A tabloid is a newspaper with a compact page size smaller than broadsheet. There is no standard size for this newspaper format. Etymology The word ''tabloid'' comes from the name given by the London-based pharmaceutical company Burroughs Wellcome & Co. to the compressed tablets they marketed as "Tabloid" pills in the late 1880s. The connotation of ''tabloid'' was soon applied to other small compressed items. Capital Scotland (formerly known as Beat 106, XFM Scotland, and later Galaxy Scotland) is a regional radio station owned by Communicorp UK and operated by Global. It broadcasts to Scotland's Central Belt, an area surrounding the two cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. History Beat 106 Beat 106 was established by the Big Beat Group, headed up by a group of nightclub promoters from Glasgow, and first aired on 19 November 1999 as a new rock and dance station. Michelle McManus (born 8 May 1980) is a Scottish singer, columnist, and television presenter who won the second and final series of the UK talent show ''Pop Idol'' in 2003. McManus's debut single, " All This Time", entered the UK Singles Chart at number one in January 2004. Her only album to date, ''The Meaning of Love'', was released in February 2004 and debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart. ''The Hour'' is a lifestyle magazine programme that was broadcast on STV, the ITV franchise in Northern and Central Scotland, premiering on 26 May 2009.
