Julie Paetsch (born February 23, 1988) is an athlete from Lanigan, Saskatchewan. Currently, she is a two-sport athlete in hockey and football. Saskatchewan Huskies Women's Ice Hockey
The Saskatchewan Huskies women's ice hockey team represents the University of Saskatchewan in U Sports women's ice hockey. The Huskies compete in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association Conference in the U Sports athletic association. Home games are contested at the Merlis Belsher Place. History Women have been playing hockey at the University as early as 1912. During the 2009–10 season, Breanne George scored a conference-high 28 goals and 18 assists for a league-leading 46 points in 24 games. Calgary Inferno
The Calgary Inferno (previously known as Team Alberta, nickname "Honeybadgers", during the 2011–12 season) was a women's ice hockey team that joined the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) for the 2011–12 season. The team played its home games at Joan Snyder Rink (Arena B) at WinSport Canada in Calgary, Alberta. After two seasons without an official name, in 2013 the team picked a moniker drawing from Calgary's National Hockey League franchise, the Calgary Flames, with whom they had a partnership. For the 2013-14 it was announced that all Inferno home-games will be streamed live by PCSN.tv. Lanigan, Saskatchewan
Lanigan (pop. 1300) is a town in south-central Saskatchewan, Canada, at the intersection of TransCanada Yellowhead Highway 16 and Highway 20, approximately 117 km east of Saskatoon and 170 km north of Regina. Lanigan is surrounded by the RM of Usborne No. 310 and is about 2 kilometres west of Lanigan Creek and about 10 km west of Jansen Lake. Quill Lakes are about 34 km to the east along the Yellowhead Highway. 2013 IFAF Women's World Championship
The 2013 IFAF Women's World Championship was the second IFAF Women's World Championship, an American football competition for women. It took place between 30 June and 6 July 2013. The tournament was hosted at the ISS Stadion in Vantaa, Finland. The defending champion, the United States, won its second title after defeating Canada 64–0 in the final. 2013 CWHL Draft
The 2013 CWHL Draft was held in August 2013. Jessica Wong became the first visible minority selected with the first pick overall. Wong was also part of another unique piece of draft history. Her teammate from the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, Katie Wilson, was picked second overall. It marked the first time that two NCAA teammates were selected first and second overall. In addition, Blake Bolden became the first ever African American picked in the first round of said draft. Georgia Moore, a member of the Australian national women's team became the first Australian born player selected in the draft. Along with Julie Paetsch, both had experience competing in women's tackle football in the Western Women's Canadian Football League. The Saskatoon Valkyries are a women's football team in the Western Women's Canadian Football League's (WWCFL) Prairie Conference. The team is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They are the most successful WWCFL team, winning eight of the leagues eleven championships since play began in 2011, including the first four. Their primary rivals are the Regina Riot, the only other WWCFL team to win the championship. The Western Women's Canadian Football League (WWCFL) is a full-contact women's Canadian football league which began play in the spring of 2011. The league plays an annual season in the spring or summer, and with eight teams it is the largest women's football league in Canada. The teams play 12-woman tackle football games using the Football Canada rules, somewhat similar to those of the Canadian Football League.
