Juliacks
Juliacks (born April 9, 1986) is an American artist, filmmaker, performer-choreographer, cartoonist, and playwright living in the U.S. and the Netherlands. Her feature film, performance, and comics project, ''Architecture of An Atom'', has been published, screened, performed and published at the Moderna Museum of Malmö & Stockholm, the Musee d'art Contemporain of Lyon, Centre d'Art Contemporain of Geneve, the Kiasma Museum of Art with the Helsinki Comics Festival, ALT_CPH in Copenhagen and other contexts in France, Canada, Denmark, Italy, and Portugal. Sparkplug Comic Books is a defunct publisher and distributor of alternative comics founded by cartoonist Dylan Williams (comics), Dylan Williams.Spurgeon, Tom"Dylan Williams, 1970-2011,"''The Comics Reporter'' (September 18, 2011). Based in Portland, Oregon, the company operated from 2002 to 2016. The publisher's backlist is now handled by Alternative Comics. Playwright
A playwright or dramatist is a person who writes plays. Etymology The word "play" is from Middle English pleye, from Old English plæġ, pleġa, plæġa ("play, exercise; sport, game; drama, applause"). The word "wright" is an archaic English term for a craftsman or builder (as in a wheelwright or cartwright). The words combine to indicate a person who has "wrought" words, themes, and other elements into a dramatic form—a play. (The homophone with "write" is coincidental.) The first recorded use of the term "playwright" is from 1605, 73 years before the first written record of the term "dramatist". Helsinki Comics Festival is an annual free cultural event in Helsinki, Finland. It has become the largest comics event in North-Europe. The festival is typically held in early September. The Graphic Canon
''The Graphic Canon: The World's Great Literature as Comics and Visuals'' (Seven Stories Press) is a three-volume anthology, edited by Russ Kick, that renders some of the world's greatest and most famous literature into graphic-novel form. The first two volumes were released in 2012, and the concluding volume was published in spring 2013. Reception NPR declared: "It's easily the most ambitious and successfully realized literary project in recent memory, and certainly the one that's most relevant for today's readers."
