Julago, Queensland
Julago is a rural locality in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Julago had a population of 113 people. It will be the site of Townsville's largest masterplanned real estate development in the years ahead. Geography The northern part of the locality is mountainous with the highest peak being Mount Muntalunga (228 metres) part of the Muntalunga Range and an unnamed peak (200 metres) and is mostly undeveloped bushland. Between these two mountains is a valley (40 meters above sea level). The Bruce Highway and the North Coast railway pass through the locality through this valley from the east to the north-west. Most of the housing in the locality is in this valley. The south part of the locality is used for grazing by the Rocky Springs station. History The locality was named and bounded on 27 July 1991. Electoral District Of Burdekin
Burdekin is an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia. Centred on the Ayr–Home Hill region, the electorate also includes some of Townsville's southern semi-rural localities as well as the coal-mining towns of Collinsville, Moranbah and Clermont. The Burdekin River flows through part of the electorate. History The 1949 redistribution abolished the electoral district of Bowen. Part of Bowen was combined with part of Mundingburra (which continued as an electorate, but more centred on Townsville) to create the new electoral district of Burdekin, centred on Ayr and Home Hill. Plains Turkey
The Australian bustard (''Ardeotis australis'') is a large ground dwelling bird which is common in grassland, woodland and open agricultural country across northern Australia and southern New Guinea. It stands at about high, and its wingspan is around twice that length. The species is nomadic, flying to areas when food becomes plentiful, and capable of travelling long distances. They were once widespread and common to the open plains of Australia, but became rare in regions that were populated by Europeans during the colonisation of Australia. The bustard is omnivorous, mostly consuming the fruit or seed of plants, but also eating invertebrates such as crickets, grasshoppers, smaller mammals, birds and reptiles. Annandale, Queensland
Annandale is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Annandale had a population of 8,574 people. Geography Annandale borders the southern side of Ross River. It is the biggest suburb of Townsville and thus the most populated in the city. History Annandale was the largest planned housing development in Townsville. Construction started in the mid-1970s and was completed in early 2005. Annandale is one of Townsville's newest suburbs and is home to some of Townsville's wealthy, who live more toward the riverbank. Mount Stuart is a mountain in the locality of Mount Stuart in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It overlooks Townsville with an elevation of 584 metres. It was named for Clarendon Stuart (1833–1912), from 1859 Townsville's first district surveyor. Mount Elliot is a locality in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It contains the mountain of the same name. In the , Mount Elliot had a population of 8 people. Geography The locality contains the mountain Mount Elliot which rises to a peak of 1220 metres above sea level, with the surrounding localities at 50–100 metres above sea level. The entire locality forms part of the Bowling Green Bay National Park with the Alligator Creek and its waterfall being within the Mount Elliot part of the park. Jacklyn Anne Trad (born 25 April 1972) is a former Australian politician.
