Jugovićevo ( sr, Југовићево) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. It is currently a developing neighborhood. Location Borders The southern border of Jugovićevo is Vojvoda Stepa Boulevard, the eastern border is the Subotica Boulevard (Europe Boulevard), the north-eastern border is Rumenački put (Rumenka Road), the north-western border is Donje Sajlovo Street, and the western border is a western city limit of Novi Sad. The neighboring settlements are: Veternička Rampa and Bistrica in the south, Detelinara and Avijatičarsko Naselje in the east, Industrijska Zona Jug in the north-east, and Sajlovo in the north-west. Bistrica, Novi Sad
Bistrica ( sr-Cyrl, Бистрица), also known as Novo Naselje ( sr-Cyrl, Ново Насеље), is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Bistrica (including Satelit) is one of the most populated urban areas of the city. Names The old name of the settlement was ''Novo Naselje'', but it was officially changed to ''Bistrica'' in 1992. However, most of the inhabitants of the settlement still prefer to use the old name. In Hungarian the place is known as ''Újtelep''. Satelit neighborhood would get its name due to the launch of the Sputnik 1 satellite in 1957, starting the space era craze, as well the neighborhood being located far from the majority of the city (as a satellite to the city). NATO Bombing Of Novi Sad In 1999
During the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, aerial bombing was carried out against the second largest Yugoslav city of Novi Sad. According to NATO press releases, the bombing targeted oil refineries, roads, bridges, and telecommunications relay stations, facilities which had military uses. The bombing of the city caused great damage to local civilians, including severe pollution and widespread ecological damage as well as lasting consequences for the well-being of the population. Sajlovo ( sr-cyrl, Сајлово; hu, Zajol) or Donje Sajlovo ( sr-cyrl, Доње Сајлово) is a neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. History In 1237, two villages with name Sajlovo (Hungarian: Zajol), Donje Sajlovo and Gornje Sajlovo, were mentioned to exist in this area. The original name of these settlements was Isailovo. Settlements were named after monk Isaija from nearby monastery that existed in the 12th century in the east of Rumenka. Name Sajlovo/Isailovo is of Slavic origin, which indicate that these settlements were initially inhabited by Slavs. Modern settlement of Sajlovo was mostly settled during the 1990s with Serb refugees from parts of former Yugoslavia. Jovan Jugović
Jovan A. Jugović ( sr-Cyrl, Јован А. Југовић; – 24 September 1926) was an early Serbian aviator and fighter pilot. Biography Jovan A. Jugović was born in Belgrade on . He graduated from Belgrade's Military Academy in 1907, and entered the Serbian Army. On 1 May 1912, he left Belgrade and was sent to France to attend Farman's flight school with other Serbian recruits. Jugović graduated from the school in the summer of 1912, and received diploma #1013; he returned to Serbia that September. Upon returning to Serbia, Jugović was placed in charge of the Serbian Army's balloon squadron. He carried out several reconnaissance missions in Macedonia in July 1913, during the Second Balkan War. Jugović remained in charge of the balloon squadron until 1 March 1916, when he was transferred to the newly formed Serbian Air Force.
