This is a list of characters in the British comic strip ''Judge Dredd'' appearing in '' 2000 AD'', ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' and related publications. Judges of Mega-City One Anderson See Judge Anderson. Beeny Beeny is the child of the two main characters who appeared in the first '' America'' story, America Jara and Bennett Beeny. Judge Dredd
Judge Joseph Dredd is a fictional character created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra. He first appeared in the second issue of ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD'' (1977), which is a British weekly anthology Comic book, comic. He is the magazine's longest-running character. He also appears in a number of film and video game adaptations. Judge Dredd is a law enforcement and judicial officer in the dystopian future city of Mega-City One, which covers most of the east coast of North America. He is a "Judge (2000 AD), street judge", empowered to summarily arrest, convict, sentence, and execute criminals. In Great Britain, the character of Dredd and his name are sometimes invoked in discussions of police states, authoritarianism, and the rule of law. Space Corps (Judge Dredd)
Judge (or street judge) is a title held by several significant characters in ''Judge Dredd'' and other series which appear in the British comics ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD'' and ''Judge Dredd Megazine''. In the fictional future history of the series, the role of "Judge" combines those of judge, jury and police, police officer, thus avoiding long legal wrangles by allowing for criminals to be tried and sentenced on the spot. Since they overthrew the U.S. Constitution in 2070, Judges have also held supreme political power in Mega-City One. Collectively they are known as the Justice Department. Stephen Marley (writer)
Stephen Marley is a British author, voice director and video game designer. He was born in Derby of Irish parents and was educated in Bemrose School in Derby and at Nottingham. He graduated in Social Anthropology in 1971 in London, gained an M.Sc in the Sociology of Science in 1973 and worked on his Ph.D on ancient Chinese science while lecturing in Manchester. He gave up an academic career and took up writing full-time in 1985. From 1995 onwards he has also followed a parallel career in video games. In one game he designed on PlayStation, Martian Gothic, he voice directed, among others, Fenella Fielding and Julie Peasgood. He has had eight novels published, the most recent a thriller entitled ''The Heresy''. His third novel, ''Mortal Mask'', was acclaimed 'his masterpiece' in the Clute/Grant The Encyclopedia of Fantasy. Dread Dominion
''Dread Dominion'' (1994) is an original novel written by Stephen Marley and based on the long-running British science fiction comic strip ''Judge Dredd''. It is Marley's second ''Judge Dredd'' novel. Synopsis 37 years ago Judge Joe Dredd arrested his brother Judge Rico Dredd for corruption. But in a parallel universe he killed him instead, and the Joe Dredd from that universe turned evil. Now the twisted judges from Dreadworld are invading Mega-City One and the whole world is at stake. Meanwhile, corrupt judges in the Special Judicial Squad are trying to assassinate Judge Hershey. Parallel Universe (fiction)
A parallel universe, also known as a parallel dimension, alternate universe, or alternate reality, is a hypothetical self-contained plane of existence, co-existing with one's own. The sum of all potential parallel universes that constitute reality is often called a "multiverse". While the four terms are generally synonymous and can be used interchangeably in most cases, there is sometimes an additional connotation implied with the term "alternate universe/reality" that implies that the reality is a variant of our own, with some overlap with the similarly named alternate history. Fiction has long borrowed an idea of "another world" from mythology, myth, legend and religion. Judgement Day (Judge Dredd Story)
"Judgement Day" is a story of British science fiction character Judge Dredd. It was first published with alternating episodes in both '' 2000 AD'' and the ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' in 1992. It was the first crossover between the two publications; three more have since followed. It was also a crossover with another ''2000 AD'' series, ''Strontium Dog'', as it featured the second occasion on which Judge Dredd confronted Johnny Alpha (the lead character in ''Strontium Dog''). It was written by Garth Ennis (based on an idea by John Wagner) and illustrated by Carlos Ezquerra, Peter Doherty, Dean Ormston and Chris Halls. Set mainly in 2114 it tells of how the Fourth World War took the lives of three billion people when a powerful necromagus called Sabbat raised all the corpses in the world as zombies. ''2000 AD'' is a weekly British science fiction-oriented comic magazine. As a comics anthology it serialises stories in each issue (known as "progs") and was first published by IPC Magazines in 1977, the first issue dated 26 February. Since 2000 it has been published by Rebellion Developments. ''2000 AD'' is most noted for its ''Judge Dredd'' stories, and has been contributed to by a number of artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally, such as Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Grant Morrison, Brian Bolland, Mike McMahon, John Wagner, Alan Grant and Garth Ennis. Dermot Power, originally from County Waterford, Ireland, is a movie concept artist who started his career as a comic book artist working for British anthology comic '' 2000 AD''. Biography He got his break in comic books when he was commissioned to do the cover of a Judge Dredd video game back in 1990. His painterly covers quickly established him as a major talent. Garth Ennis (born January 16, 1970) is a Northern Irish–American comics writer, best known for the Vertigo series ''Preacher'' with artist Steve Dillon, his nine-year run on Marvel Comics' Punisher franchise, and '' The Boys'' with artist Darick Robertson.
