Jožef Velker
Jožef Velker (Serbian Cyrillic: Joжeф Beлкep, 5 December 1912 – 29 November 1995) was a Serbian footballer. He was one of the most important players in the history of FK Vojvodina. Early life He was born in a town mostly populated by German minority named Šove (currently known as Ravno Selo) in Vojvodina, then still part of Austro-Hungary in a wealthy latifundial family. He made his college studies in Novi Vrbas and has soon begin to show his passion towards football. Serbian Cyrillic
The Serbian Cyrillic alphabet ( sr, / , ) is a variation of the Cyrillic script used to write the Serbian language, updated in 1818 by Serbian linguist Vuk Karadžić. It is one of the two alphabets used to write standard modern Serbian, the other being Gaj's Latin alphabet. Karadžić based his alphabet on the previous Slavonic-Serbian script, following the principle of "write as you speak and read as it is written", removing obsolete letters and letters representing iotified vowels, introducing from the Latin alphabet instead, and adding several consonant letters for sounds specific to Serbian phonology. During the same period, linguists led by Ljudevit Gaj adapted the Latin alphabet, in use in western South Slavic areas, using the same principles. 1945 Yugoslav First League
In 1945, in the still existing Democratic Federal Yugoslavia, football once again began to be played nationally after a six-year hiatus due to World War II. The first post-war national tournament was a hastily organized week-long competition in cup format from September 3 until September 9, 1945. Each federal unit (socialist republic) within FPR Yugoslavia gathered a representative team. There were six teams representing Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia, one team representing the autonomous region within Serbia, Vojvodina, and the final team being the Yugoslav People's Army ( Jugoslovenska Narodna Armija, JNA) football team.
