José Antonio ValentÃn (born October 12, 1969) is a Puerto Rican former American Major League Baseball infielder. He played for the Milwaukee Brewers (–), Chicago White Sox (–), Los Angeles Dodgers (), and New York Mets (–). His son Jesmuel was a 1st round pick by the Dodgers in the 2012 MLB draft. Baseball career Early years ValentÃn was signed on October 12, , by the San Diego Padres as an amateur free agent. However, he was sent to the Milwaukee Brewers on March 26, 1992 with Ricky Bones and Matt Mieske in exchange for Gary Sheffield and Minor League prospect Geoff Kellogg. He made his major league debut with the Brewers on September 17, 1992. On January 12, 2000, and after eight seasons with the Brewers, he was traded with Cal Eldred to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Jaime Navarro and John Snyder. The Fort Wayne TinCaps are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Jesmuel José ValentÃn (born May 12, 1994), is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball second baseman and shortstop who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies. Career Minor leagues The Los Angeles Dodgers selected ValentÃn in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft (51st overall) out of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and he signed, forgoing his commitment to play college baseball at LSU. Calvin John Eldred (born November 24, 1967) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played for 14 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from to . He previously worked for the St. Louis Cardinals as a special assistant to general manager John Mozeliak, instructing minor league players for various on-field and off-field issues. On October 5th, 2022, Eldred was relieved of his duties as pitching coach for the Kansas City Royals. Minor leagues are professional sports leagues which are not regarded as the premier leagues in those sports.
