Villa Clara is one of the provinces of Cuba. It is located in the central region of the island bordering with the Atlantic at north, Matanzas Province by west, Sancti Spiritus Province by east, and Cienfuegos Province on the South. Camajuaní
Camajuaní is a municipality and town in the Villa Clara Province of Cuba. History In 1819 was decided the construction of a new port in near Caibarién to replace an old one located in Tesisco. From that moment, settlers established in the surroundings creating a new village. In 1832 blueprints for the new town of Caibarien were presented, and finally in 1841 this city was founded. Consequently, in 1864 an extension of the railway was planned in order to bring the sugar from the Camajuani valley to Caibarien and a new settlement began near the train station. This is the starting point and birth of Camajuaní village. January 1, 1871 Camajuani was declared a «villa» and on August 1, 1879 the city hall was established. es, consejo popular, lit=Popular Council, People's Council (sometimes shorten to CP) commonly stated as a ward is an electoral ward or "political-administrative demarcations" of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba. They were created in 1988 and there are a total of 474 wards as of 2023. They also work as subdivisions, under municipalities. Most rural wards include 1 major town or village (usually with a population of 700-3000) with a few hamlets, while urban areas (usually municipal seat) are usually split into a few wards, named the city name with a I, II and sometimes III, and IV (an example is Camajuaní II). Sometimes when there’s only two wards in the city they are split into “Norte” or north and “Sur” or south (an example is Encrucijada Norte). Placetas
Placetas () is a city in the Villa Clara Province in the center of Cuba; before the change in the country's government in 1959 the province was called Las Villas. The town is also known as ''La Villa de los Laureles'' because of its wild laurel trees. Placetas is also a '' municipio'', one of 13 subdivisions of the Villa Clara Province. Cuba's geographical center, Guaracabulla, is located in this municipality. History Placetas was founded on September 9, 1861 mainly due to the sugar production industry. Nowadays, the main produce of the area is tobacco. The main contribution to its foundation came from Jose Martinez-Fortun y Erles, a Spanish Marques and former colonel in the Spanish Army. The 26th of July Movement ( es, Movimiento 26 de Julio; M-26-7) was a Cuban vanguard revolutionary organization and later a political party led by Fidel Castro. The movement's name commemorates its 26 July 1953 attack on the army barracks on Santiago de Cuba in an attempt to start the overthrowing of the dictator Fulgencio Batista. This is considered one of the most important organizations among the Cuban Revolution. At the end of 1956, Castro established a guerrilla base in the Sierra Maestra. This base defeated the troops of Batista on 31 December 1958, setting into motion the Cuban Revolution and installing a government led by Manuel Urrutia Lleó. The Movement fought the Batista regime on both rural and urban fronts. The movement's main objectives were distribution of land to peasants, nationalization of public services, industrialization, honest elections, and large scale education reform. José Antonio Echeverría
José Antonio Echeverría (July 16, 1932 in Cárdenas, Matanzas – March 13, 1957 in Havana, Cuba) was a Cuban revolutionary and student leader. The President of the Federation of University Students (''Federación Estudiantil Universitaria'' - FEU), he was a founding member of the Directorio Revolucionario Estudantil (DRE), a militant organization that played an important role in the Cuban Revolution to oust President Fulgencio Batista. He had the nickname "Manzanita", ("Little Apple"}. He was part of the Presidential Palace attack. Echeverría took a leading role in the attack on the Radio Reloj station attack that lead to his death. Born to a middle-class family in Cárdenas, Echeverría enrolled at the University of Havana in order to study architecture.
