Josu Muguruza
Josu Muguruza (1958–1989) was a Basque journalist and politician who was assassinated in Madrid on 20 November 1989. Muguruza was among the leaders of Herri Batasuna, a Basque nationalist political party. He was about to serve at the Cortes Generales, Spanish Parliament for the party when he was killed. Biography Muguruza was born in Bilbao in 1958. He received a bachelor's degree in information sciences. He was a journalist by profession and worked as an editor-in-chief of ''Egin (newspaper), Egin'' newspaper. He was elected as a deputy from the Herri Batasuna in the 1989 Spanish general election, 1989 general elections. He had a daughter, Ane Muguruza. She was born two weeks after the murder of his father. Assassination Muguruza was assassinated in Madrid on 20 November 1989 before he received his certificate of election. Alcorcón () is a city and municipality of Spain located in the Community of Madrid. as of 2020, it had a population of 172,384. Geography The municipality, largely flat, lies at an average altitude of 711 metres above sea level, with the highest point being El Ventorro del Cano (741 m), located in the north of the municipality. History The site appears to have been inhabited since prehistoric times. The name is of Arabic origin, but little is known of Alcorcón before the Reconquista. Santiago Brouard
Santiago Brouard or Santi Brouard (1919 in Lekeitio – 20 November 1984 in Bilbao) was a doctor and Basque people, Basque politician. He was one of the leaders of Herri Batasuna, and deputy mayor of Bilbao. He was killed by the Spanish government's death squad, the Grupos Antiterroristas de Liberación (GAL), in one of its highest-profile acts. Broaurd was shot by GAL gunmen Luis Morcillo and Rafael López Ocaña as he left his paediatric clinic in Bilbao. Early years Born in the town of Lekeitio, he studied medicine in the university of Valladolid. After finishing his studies, he went back to the Basque Country and specialized in paediatrics in Basurto-Zorroza, Basurtu hospital. He married Teresa Aldamiz, with whom he had three children.
