Joshua Davis (born June 13, 1971) is an American designer, technologist, author, and visual artist in new media. He is best known as the creator of praystation.com, winner of the Prix Ars Electronica 2001 Golden Nica for "Net Vision / Net Excellence”. He was an early adopter of open-source software, offering the source code of the praystation.com composition and animation developments to the public. Davis had a role in designing the visualization of IBM's Watson, the intelligent computer program capable of answering questions, for the quiz show Jeopardy. His work has been inducted into the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, National Design Triennial 2006 “Design Life Now”, and he has spoken at the TED and 99U conferences about his career in algorithmic image making and open-source software. Joshua Clark Davis (born September 1, 1972) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, and former world record-holder. Davis represented the United States at two consecutive Summer Olympics. College and international career He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he swam for coach Eddie Reese's Texas Longhorns swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, he won gold medals by swimming for the winning U.S. teams in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay and 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Joshua Davis (born 1974) is an American writer, film producer and co-founder of ''Epic Magazine''. Early life Davis is the son of Miss Nevada winner Janet Hadland and Highlander film producer Peter S. Davis. Davis attended Stanford University, where he double majored in Economics and Modern Thought and Literature. Career Davis wrote the New York Times bestselling book Spare Parts, which grew out of his article "La Vida Robot." Joshua Warren Davis (born August 10, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player. College career Davis attended the University of Wyoming, where he played college basketball with the Wyoming Cowboys. As a freshman during the 1998–99 season, Davis first displayed his potential when he recorded the first double-double of his career in the first month of the season against then No. 13 ranked Arizona. Davis scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds versus the Wildcats. He ranked third on team in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and fifth in scoring (8.6 ppg). Josh Davis (born January 22, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Cyberdyne Ibaraki Robots in Japan. Davis played his freshman year at NC State Wolfpack men's basketball, NC State. Davis transferred to Tulane Green Wave men's basketball, Tulane, where he averaged 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as a junior and was named to the First Team All-Conference USA. After the season he transferred again to San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball, San Diego State but did not have to sit out the season. He was nicknamed Kawhi 2.0 due to his resemblance of Kawhi Leonard and rebounding ability. In his only season at San Diego State, Davis averaged 10.1 rebounds and 7.7 points per game.
