Joseph H. Beeman
Joseph Henry Beeman (November 17, 1833 – July 31, 1909) was a slave owner and officer in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. He later served a term as a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from Mississippi from 1891 to 1893. Biography Born near Gatesville, North Carolina, Beeman moved with his parents to Morgan County, Alabama, in 1847 and to Mississippi in 1849. He received an academic education, teaching for several years. Beeman then engaged in mercantile pursuits. Lieutenant
A lieutenant ( , ; abbreviated Lt., Lt, LT, Lieut and similar) is a commissioned officer rank in the armed forces of many nations. The 52nd United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, consisting of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. Farmers' Alliance
The Farmers' Alliance was an organized agrarian economic movement among American farmers that developed and flourished ca. 1875. The movement included several parallel but independent political organizations — the National Farmers' Alliance and Industrial Union among the white farmers of the South, the National Farmers' Alliance among the white and black farmers of the Midwest and High Plains, where the Granger movement had been strong, and the Colored Farmers' National Alliance and Cooperative Union, consisting of the African American farmers of the South. One of the goals of the organization was to end the adverse effects of the crop-lien system on farmers in the period following the American Civil War. Morgan County is a county in the north central part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, its population was 123,421. The county seat is Decatur.
