Joseph-Étienne Giraud (31 January 1808, Briançon – 28 May 1877, Paris) was a French doctor and entomologist specializing in Hymenoptera with an additional interest in Coleoptera. Giraud practised medicine in Vienna and Paris. Briançon (, ) is the sole Subprefectures in France, subprefecture of the Hautes-Alpes Departments of France, department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regions of France, region in Southeastern France. Hymenoptera is a large order (biology), order of insects, comprising the sawfly, sawflies, wasps, bees, and ants. Over 150,000 living species of Hymenoptera have been described, in addition to over 2,000 extinct ones. Many of the species are Parasitoid wasp, parasitic.
