Joseph-Auguste Frigon
Joseph-Auguste Frigon (7 February 1870 – 14 February 1944) was a local entrepreneur and politician in the Mauricie area. He served as the fourth Mayor of Shawinigan, Quebec and as Member of the Legislative Assembly. Early life He was born in 1870 in Saint-Prosper, Mauricie, Quebec. Municipal Politics Frigon was Mayor of Saint-Narcisse, Quebec from 1896 to 1899. He moved to Shawinigan in the early 1900s for business reasons and ran for Mayor of that city against Beaudry Leman in 1902 but lost the election by a single ballot. Frigon ran again in 1913 and won. Mauricie
Mauricie () is a traditional and current administrative region of Quebec. La Mauricie National Park is contained within the region, making it a prime tourist location. The region has a land area of 35,860.05 km² (13,845.64 sq mi) and a population of 266,112 residents as of the 2016 Census. Its largest cities are Trois-Rivières and Shawinigan. The word ''Mauricie'' was coined by local priest and historian Albert Tessier and is based on the Saint-Maurice river which runs through the region on a North-South axis. Mauricie administrative region was created on August 20, 1997 from the split of Mauricie–Bois-Francs administrative region into Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec. Saint-Maurice—Laflèche (previously known as St-Maurice—Laflèche) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1935 to 1968. It was created as "St-Maurice—Laflèche" riding in 1933 from parts of Champlain and Three Rivers and St. Maurice ridings. In 1947, the riding's English name was changed to "Saint-Maurice—Laflèche". The electoral district was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed into Berthier, Champlain and Saint-Maurice ridings. Alphonse-Edgar Guillemette
Alphonse-Edgar Guillemette (25 June 1877 – 23 August 1950) was a politician in Quebec, Canada. He served as Member of the Legislative Assembly. Early life Guillemette was born in Princeville, Centre-du-Québec, the son of Ludger Guillemette, a merchant, and his wife Anabella Provencher. He took up residence at Shawinigan in 1899, working first as a baker, and later as a trader in grains and feed. Guillemette served as a Shawinigan alderman in 1901–1902, and again in 1909–1914. He served as warden of the Saint-Pierre parish 1917–1920. In 1920 he ran in the by-election in the Saint-Maurice district on the Liberal ticket, but was not elected. He ran again in 1924, and was successful. However, he was defeated by another Liberal, Joseph-Auguste Frigon, in the 1927 general election. J.-H.-Napoléon Désaulniers (1875-1958) was a local politician in Shawinigan, Quebec.
