Josep Pla Prize
The Josep Pla Award ( es, Premio Josep Pla, links=no; ca, Premi Josep Pla, links=no) is a Spanish literary prize, awarded by the Destino publishing house since 1968, to a prose text written in Catalan. It is open to all genres: novel, short story, narrative, travel book, memoir, biography, diary, etc. Its name pays tribute to Josep Pla, considered one of the most important prose writers of contemporary Catalan literature. It is one of the most prestigious prizes awarded to literature in Catalan. The award ceremony takes place every 6 January, during the night of Epiphany, at the in Barcelona. Ediciones Destino
Ediciones Destino is a Spanish publishing house, founded by the editors of the weekly Destino in the 1942. Destino's catalogue includes the most emblematic Spanish authors of the post-war period such as Miguel Delibes, Camilo José Cela, Carmen Martín Gaite, Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio, Ana María Matute, Carmen Laforet, etc. and great foreign authors such as George Orwell, Bohumil Hrabal or Naguib Mahfuz. Olga Xirinacs Díaz
Olga Xirinacs Díaz (born 1936) is a Spanish writer and piano teacher. During her literary career, she has written poetry, drama, tales and essays. She was born in Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain), where she still lives and works. Xirinacs often writes in the daily press: her articles have been published in ''La Vanguardia, Avui'', and'' Foc Nou'', amongst others. She has given narrative courses in the Aula de Lletres and in Barcelona's Pompeu Fabra University. Some of her books have won prestigious Catalan literature awards, including the Sant Jordi, Sant Joan, Josep Pla, Ramon Llull and the Carles Riba prizes. She has published more than three hundred tales, 250 for adults and around 50 for children. ''El Mundo'' (; ), before ''El Mundo del Siglo Veintiuno'', is the second largest printed daily newspaper in Spain. Llucia Ramis i Laloux (Palma, Majorca, April 23, 1977) is a Catalan language journalist and writer. Carme Riera
Carme Riera Guilera (; born 12 January 1948) is a novelist and essayist. She has also written short stories, scripts for radio and television and literary criticism. She holds a doctorate in Hispanic Philology and is a professor of Spanish literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Riera was born in Palma. She attended the Sacred Heart primary school and the Joan Alcover Institute in Palma, where she met Majorcan writers and fell in love with a teacher, Francisco Llinás. In 1965 she moved to Barcelona to study Hispanic Philology in the Department of Philosophy and Letters of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
