Josef Otto Entres
Josef also Joseph Otto Entres (13 March 1804 – 14 May 1870) was a German sculptor and painter. Entres was born in Fürth, and studied sculpture in Munich after July 1822, where he was a student of Konrad Eberhard. Fürth
Fürth (; East Franconian: ; yi, פיורדא, Fiurda) is a city in northern Bavaria, Germany, in the administrative division (''Regierungsbezirk'') of Middle Franconia. It is now contiguous with the larger city of Nuremberg, the centres of the two cities being only apart. Fürth is one of 23 "major centres" in Bavaria. Fürth, Nuremberg, Erlangen and some smaller towns form the "Middle Franconian Conurbation", which is one of the 11 German metropolitan regions. Fürth celebrated its thousand year anniversary in 2007, its first mention being on 1 November 1007. Geography The historic centre of the town is to the east and south of the rivers Rednitz and Pegnitz, which join to form the Regnitz to the northwest of the Old Town. Konrad Eberhard
Konrad Eberhard (25 November 1768 – 12 March 1859), a German historical painter, better known as a sculptor, was one of the foremost artists of the so-called Nazarene School, which at one time gathered round Friedrich Overbeck in Rome. Biography He was born at Hindelang in Algau, where his father and grandfather were sculptors and carvers. The Elector of Treves and Bishop of Augsburg, Clement Wenceslas, often had occasion to go to Hindelang, where he made the acquaintance of Eberhard, and induced him to visit the Academy of Munich in 1798 to work under his fellow-countryman Roman Anton Boos. In 1816 he was appointed professor of sculpture at the Academy. He died at Munich. Works Among his best sculptures are the tomb of the princess Caroline in the Theatinerkirche, and the statues of St. George and St. Michael before the Isar gate in Munich.
