Jorge is a Spanish and Portuguese given name. It is derived from the Greek name Γεώργιος (''Georgios'') via Latin ''Georgius''; the former is derived from (''georgos''), meaning "farmer" or "earth-worker". The Latin form ''Georgius'' had been rarely given in Western Christendom since at least the 6th century. The popularity of the name however develops from around the 12th century, in Occitan in the form ''Jordi'', and it becomes popular at European courts after the publication of the ''Golden Legend'' in the 1260s. Jorge and at times GEØRGE is a Romanian singer, dancer and TV host, specially for the talent competition ''România dansează'' on Antena 1 starting 2013. Career Beginnings George Papagheorghe was born in Constanța on the Black Sea in an artistic family as his father was a well known celebrity performing in social gatherings, bars and at weddings in Macedonia. He performed at school while 11 in classical opera pieces accompanied by piano. After graduation, he specialized in management at Academia de Studii Economice in Bucarest. Jorge Enrique Adoum
Jorge Enrique Adoum (June 29, 1926 in Ambato – July 3, 2009 in Quito) was an Ecuadorian writer, poet, politician, and diplomat. He was one of the major exponents of Latin American poetry. His work received such prestigious awards as the first Casa de las Américas Prize in Cuba, the most important honor in Latin American letters. Though hailed by Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda as the best poet of his generation in Latin America, Adoum’s work is unknown in the English-speaking world. Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Ayala (23 January 1903 – 9 April 1948) was a left-wing Colombian politician and charismatic leader of the Liberal Party. He served as the mayor of Bogotá from 1936–37, the national Education Minister from 1940–41, and the Labor Minister from 1943–44. He was assassinated during his second presidential campaign in 1948, setting off the ''Bogotazo'' and leading to a violent period of political unrest in Colombian history known as ''La Violencia'' (approx. 1948 to 1958). Jorge Campos
Jorge Campos Navarrete (born 15 October 1966) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. A notable player of Mexico in the 1990s and early 2000s, Campos was an eccentric player, known for his constant play outside the penalty area – often functioning as a sweeper-keeper, as well as his acrobatic, risky, and flamboyant style of goalkeeping, and his colourful playing attire. His main strengths as a goalkeeper were his leaping ability, athleticism, and speed when rushing off his line, as well as his ability to organize his defense, which enabled him to overcome his short stature. Jorge Coll (born 1977/1978) is a Spanish art dealer, and the CEO of Colnaghi, one of the world's oldest art galleries and dealerships. Early life The son of a Spanish art dealer, Coll grew up in Barcelona and after finishing his studies spent four years working in his family's art dealing business. Career In 2005, in partnership with Nicolas Cortés, he founded Coll & Cortés, an art dealership based in Madrid. In 2012 they expanded and opened a gallery in London's Mayfair district.
