Jordbro
Jordbro is a suburban locality situated in Haninge Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 10,291 inhabitants in 2010. The suburb is separated in two by the Stockholm commuter rail. Route 73 (Nynäsvägen), passes just east of Jordbro and connects Stockholm and Nynäshamn. East of the railway lies a housing area built as part of the Million Programme, in the 1960s and 1970s. The housing area is made up of blocks of flats, with single family homes to the north and to the south. To the west of the housing area and the railway lies a relatively large industrial area, containing the main offices and production plant of The Coca-Cola Company in Sweden. Dagab, Lagena, Osram and Åhlens also have distribution warehouses in the industrial area. Just to the south, between Jordbro and Västerhaninge is Jordbro Grave Field, a burial ground, thought to have been used somewhere between 500 BC and 500 CE. Rainer Hartleb (born 29 February 1944 in Hildburghausen, Germany) is a German-Swedish director of documentary films. Jordbro Grave Field
Jordbro Grave Field ( sv, Jordbro gravfält) is located in Haninge kommun in the southern part of Stockholm County, Sweden. It is thought to be the largest grave field dating from the Iron Age in the Nordic countries. It is situated south of the small town of Jordbro, roughly one kilometer from Jordbro train station, or approximately one and a half kilometers north of Västerhaninge municipality station. Southeast of the grave field is Gullringskärret nature preserve. History The grave field consists of 660 graves which are historical monuments dating from 500 BC to 500 AD. Among these are one tumulus, a pair of grave cairns, about 300 stone circles in different shapes, two stone ships, and 14 stone circles. Million Programme
The Million Programme ( sv, Miljonprogrammet) was an ambitious public housing program implemented in Sweden between 1965 and 1974 by the governing Swedish Social Democratic Party to ensure the availability of affordable, high quality housing to all Swedish citizens. The program sought to construct one million new housing dwellings over a ten-year period, which it accomplished. As part of its intention to modernize Swedish housing, it also demolished many older buildings that national and local governments considered obsolescent, unhealthy or derelict. At the time, the intention to build one million new homes in a nation with a population of eight million made the Million Programme the most ambitious building programme in the world. Haninge Municipality
Haninge Municipality (''Haninge kommun'') is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in Handen, a part of the Stockholm urban area. Haninge Municipality was formed in 1971 when ''Västerhaninge'' and ''Österhaninge'' were united. The municipal coat of arms depicts a capercaillie from which the name Haninge is believed to have been derived (the German word ''hahn'' means capercaillie), while the anchor symbolizes the naval base in the municipality. The German word usage is supposedly from the old German Hansa traders who operated in the area. Geography Haninge cherishes its nature, housing the southern parts of the scenic Stockholm archipelago. Västerhaninge
Västerhaninge () is a locality situated in Haninge Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It had 15,134 inhabitants in 2010. It is connected to Stockholm by commuter rail. Västerhaninge borders the large Hanveden forest to the north, the Jordbro locality to the east, an agricultural region to the south, and the Tungelsta area to the west. The locality lies 22 km from Stockholm and 6 km from Handen. Districts of the locality include Åbylund, Norrskogen, and Jägartorp in the north, and Ribbyberg and Nedersta in the south. The Stockholm-Nynäs railway runs through the town, and the original station building was demolished to make way for a new one in 1997. The nearby Tungelsta station is the only one in the region to survive from the railway's original construction. Nynäshamn
Nynäshamn is a locality and the seat of Nynäshamn Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 13,510 inhabitants in 2010. While interest in the area as a potentially useful port grew from the mid 19th Century, it was only with the opening of the railway station to Stockholm in 1901 that Nynäshamn started to develop. During the early 20th Century, Nynäshamn also became well known as a spa town, though most such facilities were closed down before the end of World War I.
